Little Mix
James Blunt
Westlife

Sorry, misread question, thought it said put in a rocket and send to outer space.

Too many to narrow down and would give a completely different choice on another day,

The Jam
Prince
The Killers

If a smaller venue

The Courteeners
American Authors
Kate Bush

Saw The Jam a few times including their final gig at Brighton in '82 (was emotional)...They never disappointed and Weller always played like a man possessed.
Never got to see Kate Bush, but her TV specials were always very good

I saw Alexisonfire in Toronto :) sounded ok, not quite like the record. Have you ever seen Funeral for a Friend? Live, sounds just as good as the recording. Impressive.

Saw them play with Hondo Maclean in 2003 but at the time I wasn't really into them. Having said that they played a pretty decent set.
Just read that they split up last month which is a shame seeing as their last three albums have been really solid.

I'll stop being a kill joy... If you can't beat them, join them!
This is based on people I haven't seen:

1. Bob Marley - half hour

2. Blondie - 1 hour

3. Prince - 2 hours (I had a girlfriend (from Southampton as it happens) who had 2 tickets to see him when we first met, but it was the next week and she'd promised her friend to go) and another girlfriend who when I ended the relationship a month before my birthday, she told me she'd bought me Prince tickets - she took a mate!)

The Jam, The Who, The Specials and Madness all dipped out of my list. None of them had Debbie Harry in the line up, else they'd have been right in there too.

Richard Thompson is a brilliant and underrated Guitarist.

Yes - obviously he'd be in the line-up by default. Saw Fairport a few years ago with near-enough original line-up (Thompson etc.). But yes, love a lot of his solo work, and that with Linda Thompson too.

Had tickets to see him at Glasgow, but couldn't go in the end. Got a feeling I might be regretting that one for some time.

The Killer is still knocking em dead by all accounts.

Love the Rolling Stone review of his 'Live at the Star Club' album: ''Live at the Star Club' is not an album, it's a crime scene'. :emoticon-0100-smile

Jimi Hendrix
Rory Gallagher
Led Zeppelin

Hendrix I never saw live. Isle of Wight would have been the only chance.
Rory Gallagher was the best gig I have even seen in my life. I still have a limited RG musical knowledge [Blueprint only on vinyl], and half the songs were unknown to me yet he blew me and everyone else away.
Led Zeppelin were good. Not astounding, just damn good. The least you'd expect from them really. Several others got close. Moody Blues, Yes, etc... The Groundhogs were good and dirty. Ziggy era David Bowie. Simple Minds. ;)

Bands who were crap: The Who - way under rehearsed and too loud. REM - just massively too loud Others - generally too loud. The Who were just **** though. Mainly rather stay at home and listen on vinyl though. At least they play the bloody music better.

Coming into this thread late - sorry, been out of decent internet coverage!

Glad to find another Rory fan. I had the pleasure to see him a number of times in the 70s and he was always amazing. Met the man himself, too - what a quiet and lovely man he was. Do yourself a favour and get a copy of his first solo album ("Rory Gallagher") - I still think it's one of the finest first albums of all times ........ (hmmm - possibly something to think about for another thread ......)

For me - I'd be very similar to you, TSS. I'd go for Jimi, Rory and then, probably, Queen (as they are the only ones I never saw and I bet they were amazing live). I'd love to have seen the Stones in their heyday, but I saw Zep (amazing) in 73 and the 'Oo in the Guildhall in 71 (I was deaf for about 3 days after, but they were fantastic ....)

That's just the way the cookie crumbles though SA. There is lots being posted in there that might not get seen.

The mods have always had it that way, but it seems not for this. No skin off my nose as I don't start non-footballing threads, but others have tried (out of season too) and been stopped.

Anyway, where is your dream holiday destination you've not been to :)

The Maldives ........ :emoticon-0103-cool:

Had to show this video that came up with the Richard Thompson one.

She nails this solo...there are others too

That's very impressive. Still doesn't beat me sitting on a sofa with David Gilmour and singing Dancing on the Ceiling with him doing the harmonies during the chorus...

(Yeah okay, it does).

Prince is a great shout.

I never got to see him or Bowie live, to my eternal dismay.

Saw Madness at Reading Festival - 2011 I think, and The Specials at IOW Festival 2 years ago. Both great.

Actually The Streets in one of their final ever gigs at Reading festival is probably my favourite. Worst - John Newman at IOW.

1. The Animals
2. Arctic Monkeys
3. Pink Floyd

Close between the last two but AM songs are relatively short and PF are pretty long so it would even out I think...
