Looks like Huw after trying the cheap option will now meet liverpools asking price of £10 million.

I think jinx may have buggered up getting Joe by being too slow and trying to get him on the cheap as Liverpool will get more than £10m for him now.....There are 8 clubs in the frame now and Joe would love to come back to Swansea......one day....His career will come first as he is a rising star now and he has been seen by the world what a good player he is.....To come back would be a step backwards in his career and he would be a fool to mess up his career when there are better clubs than us after him. Dont get me wrong as i want Joe back as much as anybody and if huw had gone in there with Liverpool's asking price at the beginning before the euros and before anyone else was interested we would have had our man and Joe would not be any the wiser that bigger better clubs were interested.
Then there is a chance he wont want to go to a bigger club and wants to come back but for any young player then we have to be realistic as they will nearly always go for the bigger clubs and better wages. He has the chance to try his luck abroad if he wants, so im not putting any hopes on Joe returning this time and i wont be disappointed... And if he does come back well it will be a lovely surprise and a welcomed one....

It's this small time mentality that got us into the premier league, the club will pay what we think he's worth to us. And £2m is rather a lot of money and there should be consideration on whether he is worth that, and as mentioned above Liverpool wants about £12m, so if we offer the extra £2m and that is rejected, would you then say well it's only another £2m ?

For me Joe is not worth much more than what the club has offered now, there are plenty of players out there, we've probably scouted a dozen players for the role that Joe offers, we could go to one of them.

I tend to agree, the difference is that we know the 10m pound spent will be for a player we know will fit the club and will work for us, a player who we know works in the Pl, the others may be seen as a bit of a gamble compared.

But it's been reported that Liverpool wanted £10 million. We could now risk losing him for the sake of 2 million quid. I keep reading that there's plenty of players like Joe out there but who? Who out there is of the same quality as Joe that would sign for us because nobody comes close to him in the Euro's.

Yes, small time mentality got us to the PL but it won't keep us in it for much longer while other clubs spend.

Haven't you been saying that for years? Not having a go at you, but spending loads of money doesn't always bring success, the championship and lower leagues are full of clubs who has risked everything.

We have new owners now, or will do soon, and I'm not exactly full of confidence of them having the money to fund £10m players all over the park. To be honest I don't think we even need Allen at that price, we need players to score goals, he is not exactly that.

I said it this time last year and we still need to address last seasons issues ie we need a RB, LB, a replacement for Leon - Joe being the obvious, natural option, still a replacement for Bony which will cost money plus a replacement for Gomis and Palo.

We can't keep going through transfer windows spending £5_£8 million. We need to rebuild and strengthen in key areas. If we don't do it this summer then next year we'll still have to invest not only in those areas but also looking at replacements for Ash and Routs on top of current areas of concern.

In the end it's the player who has the final say. If a team were to offer £50 mill for Joe and he didn't want to go he wouldn't. On the subject of transfer fees we don't need to spend £15 mill+ on every transfer but certainly need to spend big where we need to attract a top player. e.g. a striker

Now is not the time to keep going cheap and missing our targets ...Teams around us are snapping them up like hot cakes from under our nose and we will find ourselves with little option to end up with players no better than what we have and that is not improving the team at all.....We all know we have a striker problem and we are fannying about looking for a cheapo and you cant do that in the premiership......We were in with a shout for bony until huw vetoed any deal But huw we have to pay big money in our 6th season if we want to stay here, we cant go cheap with the most important player to the team or we will end up getting another gomez and playing players out of position scoring just a handful of goals that wont be enough to keep us out of the relegation battle......a top quality striker should be here by now and really should be two ..

I'd rather us go for someone else.

    Just my opinion.

Apparently a lot of clubs are showing interest in Allen (have heard up to 5 ) .
With Liverpool wanting 10 million for him and our 8 million offer being refused , all other interest in Allen will fade IMO . Teams that were showing interest in Allen were doing so because he had one season left on his contract and they were hoping to steal him on the cheap ......No one will pay more than we offered . We got Fer for less than half of what Allen's asking price was and Fer can play Brittons position and will help with all the problems we have with set pieces at both ends .... No more little guys .....unless CHEAP.

We wont get Joe for £8m roof they would rather keep him and offer him an extension after the way he has performed. Liverpool hold all the cards.

You are mistaken, Allen holds all the cards, players always do!
