I think we will have a free trade agreement which we are happy with. If we didn't I wonder where they will go if the Netherlands leaves the EU. Over 50% want a referendum.

I certainly do need it explaining. Are you saying a country or collection of countries can only make ONE trade deal? What is the logic of that? How come the EU has more than ONE trade deal?

    I know you do.

I think we'll have a free trade agreement that we're lumbered with, limits the deals we can do elsewhere and still involves some free movement of people.

We'll find out in a year or so.

I'm assuming you haven't read the post I mentioned?

The whole point of the EU is that trade agreements are made on behalf of all member states and adhered to by all.

It would be a waste of time having another referendum. They wouldn't get it reversed if they want the rules to say it is only valid if the leader has to have 60% of the vote in a 75% turnout to win.

Look no further than Switzerland or Norway. They are bound by decisions made in Europe, without a say in matters.
I know we'll be in a stronger position, but they'll no doubt make an example of us.

What is clear is our establishment didn't antcipate the leave vote winning and the leave camp hasn't yet got a proper formulated plan going forward. Therefore party politics has to be sidelined in the national interest and a coalition government formed, not just in parliament but with the CBI, the Bank of England and the FTSE 100, to get our **** together and make brexit work because the EU will now push us out. Team GB.

I haven't but thanks for summarizing.
We will not be a member state when the trade deal comes into effect so we can negotiate other trade deals.

A growing economy. If you'd have found a graph that shows our GDP growth compared to our peers in Europe post the WORLDWIDE CRASH then you might have actually had a point

Isn't the whole point of us doing a trade deal with the EU, is that the conditions will be that we can't make a trade deal with anyone else?

I'm going to look further. What about the trade deal between the EU and Iceland and the EU and the USA. There's no mention of freedom of movement or paying for the costs of the EU like Switzerland and Norway agreed to.

Of the 28 member states only 11 are net contributors, and of those 11 only 5 are paying in more than 1 billion a year. These days most countries are running up a national debt, spending more believe it or not on schools, hospitals, roads, social benefits and such like than the country takes in from taxes.

The UK and other net contributors cannot continue to fund the 17 beneficiary countries, however much a nice idea it was. The EU is bust, the europhiles got carried away with themselfs. Allowed in too many countries that didn't meet the requirements of membership, introduced the Euro and again let countries use it who didn't meet their own conditions and so on.

No one can be sure what brexit will mean for us, that is now down to the politicians to negotiate. But we have jumped from a sinking ship.If the remain camp had won the europhiles would have taken that as a green light to push ahead with their vision of a united states of europe no matter how small the winning margin. All the things people point out that are wrong with the EU get the same answer, we need to harmonise more.

Go find it if you want an example why the EU simply can't agree to us trading duty free with them and be free to do any deal we like elsewhere.
