Listen folks, I know a lot of us feel the same about the tragedy of this vote. But I actually genuinely hope that we're wrong about the effects of this result and the Out campaign are right. I'd happily admit we were wrong if it means saving the economy, my family's future and the jobs of thousands who work for businesses that rely on the EU. I would be glad to be wrong and at this moment now that's all I'm hoping and praying for. I won't get any satisfaction from seeing myself proved right. That argument was for before the election.

Roaming charges are for EU and fought for in EU parliments... why should they give us that... health insurance... thats up to whether thats travel insurance or not. Again before (and today for 2 years) you could fill in a form and get an EU card to travel on hols and get free care in europe... fall down paralytic in benidorm now and you'll get a massive bill before they let you leave.
In reality it will be inbetween...some pain but not as much as feared...lots of sabre rattling then trade deals done..laws will stay the same. Migration will be huffed and puffed about and every time there's a change in govt the previous will be blamed for not handling it right. Only difference is ...for the next 50 years all we will hear from the opposition whoever it is blaming the ills of the day on Brexit... I honestly think there will be a lot of change.. sorry DF. on this one I'm convinced that the city of london will be treated as a target by the rest of EU and will really struggle. frankfurt has been wanting to get at london for years... now its carte blanche. Then theres international companies. My company has a UK and ireland group. I am seriously worried that will become an ireland group... why would they stay? they cannot have a single entity covering an eu and non eu state for payroll HR, etc etc etc so the minimum is a split which costs money. Will they close the Ireland part or just funnel the profits through there and close here.... whats going to happen to my pension? Look at the car industry... nissan in sunderland... ford... etc etc... look at rolls royce.. supplying airbus.. best jet engines in the world those... will airbus want to continue? I dunno.. don't know they have an alternative. What are the northern irish going to do with food exports? same for south of england... what are farms going to do outside of the CAP.. who's going to pay them now? If you draw up a list of major international companies trading in UK.. why would they support eu markets from here and pay tariffs? why not just move? the incentive will be what the negotiators bring back as the trade agreements. If theres tit for tat tariffs they become a cost saving to go after.
Even if the companies do choose to stay there will probably be actual decreases in salaries which could be massive in real terms, before tax (which will also be going up BTW)
Just heard someone(a politician from London, maybe a councillor) say that if Scotland and possibly NI leave the UK that London should also leave and become a city state. Is he talking out of his rectum or would it be possible without the say so of a referendum ending in favour of it in which the rest of England has a say in the matter?

It was those 2 things that made it imperative to vote remain. Whilst we might hate bankers the brutal truth is the city of london contributes a absolutely massive chunk of the British economy. The attempts to curb the city of London and try to obtain some of that trade for Frankfurt and Paris has been fought off a number of times in recent years. Though we opted out of the Euro CoL is the largest market for Euro trading world wide Car manufacturing is the last large scale manufacturing industry we have left ( including the supply chain ) and whilst there would be no change for some years all would be looking to resite plants into the EU unless we have a free trade agreement but evidence suggests we would need to agree free movement and still pay in to get such an agreement.
Yeah what I said before, our options are to be ****ed or for things to basically be the same as now (including immigration) except we don't get to vote on EU rules any more
All a possibility and if so...well two roads we all give up and accept a lower standard of living. Or we innovate, politically, socially and economically. Politically they've taken a punch in the face...now it's happened take advantage and keep the pressure on. Socially...the global genie is out of the bottle...we've all got used to seeing ourselves in terms of part of the world...I don't see a retreat back to some weird North Korean style closed state. Economically? Well that's the painful one. But we always boast we are leaders in research etc ..we will have to be now..and maybe a path away from this nonsense of relying on the financial services industry...I mean they've caused all recent pain....even last night.
We won't be closed as a society but it could be that going abroad is something we can only afford to do every couple of years or so instead of being fairly routine Good job we aren't in the CL/EL as following LFC to the away games would ruin you
Now we know the result we just have to get on with it. The next General Election will be interesting. Who do you vote for if the leaders are Corbyn Farage Johnson or Gove Scary thought!
