Despite being very close in numbers for both sides at the moment, Leave are actually winning by larger amounts and in unexpected places quite frequently currently. The tables are probably tipped slightly more towards Leave than the raw numbers are showing.

Bit of a further drop in the pound to 1.4 from around 1.45 where it had been fairly steady since earlier in the night, though with little activity at this time the price is rather volatile.

Seems to be slightly lower turnouts than expected in lots of Remain areas which may make a difference if the vote is close at the end

Manchester voted remain but not by the kind of margin that the remain side would have liked in terms of changing the overall numbers. London areas will need to very heavily vote for remain and Birmingham will have needed to vote strongly for remain as well on top of the expected results. Otherwise this could well be a brexit vote. Can't say I actually expected the Leave vote to win at any point from a decade ago when I first took up the idea all the way until part way through the announcements tonight, but I'm now actually starting to think Leave might have won this referendum.

We are going to need strong, strong leadership in the morning. Don't **** this up Cameron.

In the morning it is going to go crazy if leave have won.

Edit: and it's already down to 1.35 which is a huge drop from the start of the announcements.

I don't think anyone has suggested there wouldn't be a short term hit due to uncertainty. It's all about how the government acts beyond this point, where the markets stabilise and how quickly we can reduce the uncertainty and begin the recovery of the currency. It will be ****ty tomorrow for sure if leave has won as it seems.
