They can't deny her another referendum. They didn't vote to stay in this UK. They'll be out in 2 years.

On what economic basis? There entire economic plan was hinged on high oil prices remaining stable over the long term, which within two years has been shown to be u workable as oil prices are less than half the price they were during the Scottish referendum and the market is more volatile with higher uncertainty. On top of that there is no guarantee that upon a successful referendum to leave they would be accepted by the EU. The arguments they had previously for how there country would work simply don't apply anymore so unless they can come up with an entirely new plan that doesn't involve oil (and given Scottish people didn't believe the plan even including the higher oil prices I can't see them believing a plan without the oil money) then they won't win a referendum even if they managed to get one, which I don't think they will given the SNP don't have a majority in the Scottish Parliament and would have to fight tooth and nail to get a referendum again off the tories.

We've just voted out of the EU on no sound economic basis as can be seen by the pound and stock market crashing. A lot of people clearly voted with their hearts not their heads. The Scots will do the same.

Total rubbish. They've only recently had the Scottish elections and the SNP didn't get a majority, they don't have the numbers to pass a call for a referendum through there own government and won't u til at a very minimum the next Scottish elections, at which point they would need to get a majority, go for a referendum,Chavez it accepted by the UK government and then win it with no credible economic plan. Not going to happen, particularly not within two years.

Except one of the key reasons they didn't vote out last time was on not trusting the economic projections of th SNP which would now be far lower with the oil markets as they are. It isn't going to happen.

She is convinced they can make it despite the oil price. You can be sure that she will push very hard for another referendum.

Every Scots region voted to remain. As Stan says, they can easily claim that this is no longer the UK that they voted to remain in. Therefore they want another vote.

It will be very difficult to deny The Scots another referendum in current circumstances.

I'd imagine the UK is right at the front of the minds of Europe right now given the referendum result we have just had and the effect it is going to have on Europe...

That last sentence should become the slogan for whichever party ends up running England! <laugh>

Again she can push for what she likes, she doesn't have the number of Scottish MPs to get a referendum through her own government let alone approach ours, let alone get success.

The EU is your ex girlfriend banging on your door at 3am asking if she can give you one last blow job.

    And pay for it.

    Apparently.

Or a large trade partner that want to have a mutually beneficial relationship that avoids instability for both parties and allows trade to continue, who understand the effect our exit could have on the eu as a whole, economically, politically, socially etc, and will be thinking about how they go about dealing with this situation.

It will be very difficult to deny her. She's already started and she will stir up the Scottish people. Her calls will only get louder.

If she gets her referendum, this time she will succeed.

Once again, we represent a tiny amount of EU global trade. We are nowhere near as important as you think!..

    Congratulations Custard.

It's frightening that a man like Nigel has so much influence on the English people.

    The far right is awakening!

She can ask for whatever she likes, she doesn't have the power to get it. At a very minimum she will need to wait until after the next Scottish election (they've only just had one) and then win a majority, which she failed to do this time around, then get a referendum passed through the Scottish government, then approach the uk government that will be in the middle of EU negotiations, who have given the Scottish people a referendum in recent history and get them to agree to a referendum, then get them to agree a date for a referendum which given the political climate wouldn't be for a long time logistically. Then she would need to get the people to vote for independence based on a weaker conomic model and no guarantee of entering the EU at the end of it. It would be a very long process and is unlikely at every single juncture.

Whilst I understand the opinion you are voicing there is no basis for it to become reality, particularly in the short term.
