Relegation

I go away for most of the night, come back and there's a bunch of threads with the word Relegation in them. What the hell has brought all this on? Calm down lads.

 

Everyone bar the top 8 could be relegated though? I wouldn't worry about pre season. I think we'll do enough this year. I think we'll be bottom half and flirt with relegation but I've always believed that. If you are running a club on a shoestring you can't really expect massive progress. As for Ba, I'm surprised how many thought he was some sort of world beater. Has an average career record, is very injury prone, and had a bit of big fish little pond syndrome from Ja with the hammers. But he only played 5 months, and remove his goals and his all round play was just ok. Nothing has changed on the striking front, we still need a first choice striker. I've always assumed Ba was bought as back up.

 

All this from a few pre-season friendlies? We saw in the second half of the season that Ba can score goals and there are much worse teams than us. Another pathetic pre-season thread about relegation then if we win our first few games we'll get a threads saying we can qualify for Europe or we'll finish in the top 10.

 

It will take a miracle for Europe, and top 10 is fanciful. Look at last seasons table? A freakish season with the some big teams struggling to get going - Liverpool, Everton, Villa. As you say we seem to lurch from one extreme to the other. I think we will flirt with relegation but I've said that since before pre season started. The club are exactly where I expect them to be given our transfer policy etc. We have some quality in our ranks which should do enough, but we don't have the depth of quality to push on any further.

 

Optimism, pessimism, two words we're all very familiar with and in daily use quite a lot. More so with us maybe with the ups and downs and the not goings on with our football club.

We all want a successful winning team that we can be proud of but we get behind our team no matter what. We can't exactly be called glory hunters, not like some of the people that travel from London to support Man Utd etc etc. We are what we are, a bunch of local guys brought up in the area and who's family's originated in the area.

Sometimes our resolve may tend to weaken a little and we ask why can't we just have some reward for our support, a bit of hope to cling onto, a sign from above to let us know that everything is in hand and will be ok.

One person with a good skinful that goes to every game, home and away was feeeling a bit low and trying to get something off his chest. You'll not find many people with the same love and passion ( and vociferous support, if you'd stood next to him at a game ) for the team as the person concerned.

Pah & Pish Relegation!! A couple of bad results in pre-season does not a season make. We've got some quality players who haven't really played together due to 2 seperate pre-season tours/visa problems. Bit of organisation required in the back 5 which will come. Forster showed he hasn't got it yet but think the rest of the team need a week on the training ground together and it'll be a different story come Fiorentina.

top ten finish (10th for me) as we have added quality to last seasons squad we just need a striker (which we'll get) and i'll be happier might even think we'll finish 8th if we do

Although I think we'll stay up, I am slightly worried by what's being said by Joey and Jose. Doesn't help with the new lads at all.

 

I'm not annoyed about the result. I'm annoyed about all the players coming out and spouting ****.

Not being funny a lot of things are similar to what happened the summer before we got relegated in 2009, even though I'm not optimistic about the up and coming season, I don't think we'll get relegated.

 

Not yet. Should really sort that out.
