The infamous Jack Schitt, saying that Pellegrini has been offered a 3 year deal, and could be announced today?? Well I guess the next few days will reveal if Jack is full of Schitt or not?
Curious about that as well. Main reason I'm not over the moon for it...if the process is everything, what would it mean if the process goes out the window when a big name bats their eyelashes.
For Black Box, don't imagine a small, slick, computer type, electronic device. Think Willy Wonka style machine with many portals.
I expect Les is realistic in which managers he is scouting and looking into. Pellegrini is in that upper echelon of manager with Ancelotti, Mourinho, Guardiola etc who even the most optimistic fans would think would be out of our range financially and not likely to be interested. So if its true and he contacted us then you would be silly not to give him an interview. You've got to be adaptable in this game and if he impressed in interview and shared our vision and still has a fire burning to succeed, then go for it.
I've looked that up in my "There's stuff between black and white" book. It uses a word called "flexibility"... I'll look that up too!
For me, it is irrelevant about the Black Box: if a better candidate is available, willing to take the job, and has the credentials of Pellegrini, you would be rather idiotic to not talk to him formally. Personally, I think he is a great fit: if he hadn't managed City, people would say he fits our mould because of the size of club (excluding Real Madrid) he has managed and what he has achieved in Spain. Has great experience, and his age may be a positive: gives experience, and he may not be so quick to leave if other jobs come up. Plus, and for me this is most important, it sends out the signal that Saints are serious about achieving more: we can attract players and hopefully keep our ones.
Another good thing about Pellegrini for us fans, is he is a bit of a head turner. We've all had to hear from gloating evertonians and fans of other teams having a laugh about us being a "stepping stone" Then we get in a manager who has won the EPL and been pretty much managing at champions league level every year for over a decade. Will be a few Everton fans wondering if they have the right man, especially when looking at CVs
Maybe the reason Wanyama is leaving is because he couldn't spell our two previous managers names, Southampton was too long a word and Saints just confused him. He knows Pellegrini is coming in and that just ****ed his head, he couldn't pronounce it. He knows Pinocchio from before and just calls him Mo, and he knows the clubs name is also tough but he has been told during contract negotiations he can call them spuds and he also eats them and likes spuds. And also long spaghetti. Life is hard with all these words and so much food to chose from. Poor Victor...
We talk about Pellegini as if he's 134 and about to drop off the mortal coil. He's only 62, which is 6 years younger than Roy. Hardly Treebeard...
You're talking about 50 shades of Grey, aren't you Fats? Our ex manager is mentioned in that a few times I think
