'He's never been prolific' - bollox, check his stats. I've already posted them on this thread.
He's had one season where he scored 10 goals for Roma and that makes him a write off.. ****ing hell
He's managed to (just barely) hit a 1in 2 record once in the last six years... In the last two seasons he's managed 16 goals in 71 appearances all comps - worse than 1 in 4. To be fair he did have two seasons at Wolfsburg where he did well but that was a long time ago so is more or less irrelevant imo - although fair play "never been" was the wrong choice of words.
And, as Tony says, he's the wrong side of 30 now so resale value would be very low, if anything.
As I said, I wouldn't be horrified if we signed him, it's just a bit "meh" for me. I don't get why some seem to be jizzing their keks over this rumour...
Every place is worth over 3m. We only need him to help us move 3 or 4 places higher then he'll pay for himself.
I feel the same. Surely he'd get teams in European competitions wanting his services. Although look at the players Stoke have been signing...
Anything is possible in this league now.

Stoke are signing younger lads who are basically on a payday. We would have to pay Dzecko 100k to be in with even a sniff imo.

I stand by for 'Dzeko another level' but he isn't in the Prem. A fit Carroll is unplayable, something Dzeko never has or will be.

Whens there ever been a totallly fit Carroll though? He barely plays 20 games a season. We have enough crocks as it is with Kaboul and Rodwell.

Lad is something different. When fit an absolute beast, defenders don't seem to know how to react to the lad

I agree. Let's not forget we have Defoe as well. If we could have them both fit and complimenting each other the in game options would be exceptional.
Carrol is a hulk in the air, Defoe plays on the shoulder. It's an ideal fit.
They dont know how to react cause hes never fit, therefore hes hard for defenders to do their homework.
He hates us anyway. I nearly got into a fight with him 4 years ago in a Liverpool nightclub for putting my Sunderland badge screen saver off my phone in his face. He wasnt impressed neither were his cronies

He's on around 130,000 Euros pre tax apparently, so about £45k per week given Italy's high tax threshold.

He has a child with a lass i'm acquainted with mate and he really doesn't hate Sunderland, I had a convo with him several years ago at a birthday dinner and he was actually quite a sound lad.
He is a Mag, but his family is split and it's certainly not a case of he wouldn't come.
