He's only just had his 30th birthday. You are talking like he's coming into his twilight years. He's still at a good age and on top of his game.
Why are you questioning his hunger?
I can see both sides to this.
Player with nice touch and intelligence, who was at times very good in the league.
Also a player who didn't look the part last season and is possibly not suited to a side without a real playmaker.
If the fee and wages were right of course he'd improve is, and would be a bit of a statement.

Basically how I feel, although I'm far, far more in the "I'd rather we didn't bother" camp. I think people might be thinking "big name, what a statement". For me, that's irrelevant, the only thing that matters is the stats.
Fact is, he had a 1 in 4 record last season, for a top 3 team, in a weaker league. Doesn't bode well imo. A hell of a lot worse than Jermain (and he got his in the prem, for a team battling relegation), so do we really want to be forking out £15m?!
I know Dzeko adds a little more than Defoe in terms of hold-up play, etc. but at the end of the day, strikers are judged on goals. He's never been prolific, and appears to be getting worse.
It's basically chucking 11 million away as we will recoup nothing for him. He'd probably want a 4 year deal making him 34. High wages. Unless we can get him for a steal I'd be inclined to leave this one.

He's had one season where he scored 10 goals for Roma and that makes him a write off.. ****ing hell
What's wrong with that? Defoe is 33 and just had arguably his best ever premier league season.
Nothing to consider is there. A proven quality striker in the Premier league and Bundesliga, and a great international record. What's not to like?
I havnt been SA biggest fan, but IF this is the calibre of player, and he has got Mr. Short change to fund and sanction a deal like this. Whats not to like?
