Michael Gove defends claim the EU destroyed his father's business
The survey comes exactly a week before polling day as the Remain campaign loses ground on the issues of immigration and contributions to the EU budget.
It follows surveys in the past week from ORB, ICM, and YouGov which also show the Leave campaign opening up a margin over Remain.
Supplementary questions in the poll suggest that key economic arguments made by Leave are cutting through with voters, while Remain is floundering.
Just 17 per cent of voters believe George Osborne’s key claim that households will be £4,300 worse off after Brexit, while 47 per cent accept Vote Leave’s statement that Britain pays £350 million to the EU every week.
That fact comes despite almost all economists and economic organisations backing the Treasury’s claim and deriding Vote Leave’s as misleading.

I'll give it another 24 hours before the Right gets fed up of the sympathy towards Jo Cox and accuses the left of 'Diana-style hysteria'. Put money on it being peter Hitchens.

Yes, Tobes referenced that yesterday. The referendum is lost. I said over a week ago that people are just sticking their fingers in their ears over anything to do with the economy, or indeed any facts that don't agree with a narrow view about immigration. By that I don't mean they have no right to worry about immigration, but any facts regarding non EU immigration rising, refugees, etc is just ignored. The people are speaking, and they're saying with a loud voice 'It's all someone else's fault, especially if that someone is different to me'. RIP Jo, RIP Britain.

Bad timing for David Cameron to call the referendum , he has been screwed and manipulated. . If by this time
next Friday Britex got the votes, there is going to be leadership challenge in the conservative party. Also, possibly election before December. Mission accomplished for Boris Johnson.

What do you know about him?.

he man held over the killing of Labour MP Jo Cox is "not a violent man and is not that political", his brother has said.

Named locally as Thomas Mair, the 52-year-old was arrested by police close to the home where he lived alone in Birstall, West Yorkshire.

Witnesses reported that during the attack he shouted "Britain first" twice.

Scott Mair, 50, told reporters on Thursday that his brother had a "history of mental illness" but that "he has had help".

Police have so far refused to discuss the possible motive behind the killing, despite reports that Mr Mair may have had sympathy for far-right groups.

Scott Mair told the Sun: "We are struggling to believe what has happened. My brother is not a violent man and is not that political. We don't even know who he votes for. I am visibly shaken at this news. I am so sorry for the MP and her family."

Mr Mair's half-brother, Duane St Louis, 41, told ITV he believed his brother "wouldn't hurt a fly".

"He's never expressed any views about Britain, or politics or racist tendencies. I'm mixed race and I'm his half-brother; we got on well," he said.

Friends and neighbours of Mr Mair's mother Mary Goodall told the BBC she was devastated by the news and had been unable to sleep.

They said they did not know him as someone who had long-term mental health issues, although he may have been treated for depression a long time ago.

Known to them as Tom, the neighbours said he went to visit Mrs Goodall once or twice a week to do shopping and cleaning.

Image captionPolice said a man had been arrested in Market Street near the scene of the attack in Birstall
Police forensics teams searched Mr Mair's home on Thursday while his neighbours in Batley also described their shock over the news.

One man said: "He's a very quiet person. He likes his gardening and stuff like that. He was a man of few words really."

Another neighbour said she had seen him outside the house on the morning of the attack. "He just walked past like he does," she said.

Friend and neighbour David Hallas said: "When his image came up on the screen me and my wife said, 'not in a million years'. Of all the people in Birstall that I know, he would've been at the bottom of the list."

He described him as shy, a loner, a "gentle, kind chap", a well-read man with whom he had talked politics and someone who never hinted at extremist views.

West Yorkshire Police said they would not speculate about the motive but the area's Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Burns Williamson called the killing a "localised incident".

There have been a number of reports saying 52-year-old Mr Mair may as a young man have had right-wing sympathies. His name appears on a website listing him as a past subscriber to the SA Patriot magazine - a South African neo-Nazi publication.

The magazine issued a statement confirming that he appeared to have been a subscriber back in the 1980s, but said his subscription was not renewed and that those involved in the publication had never met him.

Meanwhile a US civil rights group, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), claimed it had obtained records showing Mr Mair had links with the US neo-Nazi organisation National Alliance (NA) in 1

Impact of Murder of Labour MP Jo Cox
The fundamental background to a recovery in sterling may come from the 'Leave' campaign losing support due to association with the killer of the MP Jo Cox after reports from some witnesses her attacker shouted "Britain First" before murdering her.
Mrs. Cox was a prominant 'Remain' campaigner and so the killing may have been motivated by political reasons.
Lloyds forecast GBP/EUR reaching 1.30 after the Referendum
Lloyds have told clients they are maintaining their call for the pound to edge above 1.30, after the referendum and over coming months and potentially trade above 1.35 in 2017.
If they are right it suggests those with big euro payments should wait for the furore around the referendum to settle down before making their transfers.
In the latest edition of their International Financial Outlook publication, Lloyds confirm the trajectory for GBP/EUR is higher:

Depressing to read the moments after her death this lot were money grubbing on the back of it.

They'd not care if the freak shouted Britain in or out they'd be at the same thing.

When the hostilities resume later this week, it will be interesting to find out whether the strident tone is moderated and whether the two sides will try to provide correct information to allow people to make a real assessment.

Will Boris, Gove, IDS and others continue calling Cameron, Osbourne or Darling scaremongerers or even Liars for warning people about a likely economic downturn? No wonder many people have lost respect for the politicians if they cannot respect themselves. Will they still use the £50m a day given to the EU even though they fully know that's not correct?

Here's a classic - there's Brexit supporters on the Mail (I know I shouldn't read it) saying that we should now vote out so that we can bring back the death penalty for people who commit such murders. Then a few post later the same dick is saying the guy was insane, so he can't be a political murderer. Sounds like a bad day in The Thick Of It or Veep.

I'm convinced Kennedy's security detail accidentally blew his head off AFTER the first shot - and that was Oswald, no ****ing doubt. The Oliver Stone movie tries a little too hard to use EVERY inconsistency (and I'm sure they'll find some even In Jo Cox's straightforward case) as a conspiracy. For instance the shadow on the photograph that was supposedly faked - his bloody wife Marina said she saw the photo being taken.

That paragon of fairness and impartiality nick griffin has warned against the exploitation of the death of Jo Cox by the remain camp. He said it even before her death was reported (talking about the attack) and said it many times since.

Now we all know that the MP has been spending a lot of this week campaigning for Remain. She passionately wanted for Britain to be part of the EU. Everyone who knew her had no doubts about this.

    My question:

Would it be "exploitation" of her death to repeat that phrase above? That Jo Cox would have wanted the UK to remain in the EU.

Of course it would, people are feeling very down about her death and many would react "in the right way" to a statement like that.
