Who would you have as our next Manager

We have to remember that a lot of this 'info' has come from one man reporting what he has been told. The club hasn't released it. If they had, it would be via a word in a journo's ear not via an ex-neighbour met in the street. Some of it may be true, but a lot may be escalation of gossip. Haven't we all exaggerated a story to make it better. The club did say that they didn't even meet to discuss Everton's offer, but RK had already told them he had turned it down...don't see anything strange about that.

I always thought it was strange that Koeman went back on his word, so it does make sense that he would come back to the club and use it as leverage. I don't think he has suddenly discovered a love of all things scouse, he liked it here and hoped to compromise. I think this went down like a lead balloon with Les. Ron has been away on another holiday to think about it and will either go to Everton (most likely) or take a sabbatical.

So either Ron fancies the challenge at Everton but felt he had to give us at least a chance to improve our offer or he never wanted to leave and it all went Pete Tong. And do you know what....we will never know.

But honestly, the personal wages Koeman is getting aren't really that big a deal for a PL club. It seems as though Koeman might be making as little as 5m a year at Everton. We were supposedly already paying him 3.5m. So the difference is 30k a week, which is not an unreasonable raise.

When the vast majority of your supporters earn less than that raise a year, then I would suggest it's a large difference.

Koeman wanted more money than originally agreed. That is the definition of greed.
Therefore he remains a greedy bastard

Even a person dissing Ron to an ex-neighbour in a coffee bar said that it was more about the transfer budget than about RK's wages. I know that somewhere it will be said (when eventually he signs for Everton) that it was down to ambition. This can't always be equated to money...Everton have more disposable income than we do...perhaps Saints could find more, but we are a soundly run ship and we may not feel we need many more players (even Ron said that).

I thought Everton were going to make RK the 6th highest paid manager in the world or something crazy like that. He is not at that level and we would have been crazy to match that offer.
Exactly..there is what we can afford and what we consider fair remuneration. And what we will never know is what the difference was between what we could pay and what Ron would accept.

I'm beginning to think £100m won't buy them much judging by the money being supposedly thrown around by the top 5 on players. They are being quoted as offering nearly that much for one player. I wonder if their scouting is as good as ours......no I don't, I really don't care. <laugh>

And you know this because...

I'm not convinced this was about money personally for RK, and I don't think to him £30k is a lot to him, so is relative to the situation.

I'm fairly sure RK has been successful in business outside of football.

I never got the whole calling him a greedy bastard thing, thought that was down right rude and ill informed...

Surely all details could have been sorted by his agent and a few phone calls....I would have thought it was just about getting RK's moniker on a contract.

Everton have had to make drastic cuts to be able to afford Koemans wages, so are drawing up the contract on an old typewriter and the E keeps getting stuck

I choose to believe Internet tittle tattle lol

Of course a lot of people who make a decision that benefits their personal wealth will try and justify the reasons beyond the money and flesh them out.

"Er, yeah...it's cause I get a bigger challenge here and I can grow as an individual."

How much money is enough, seriously? And in what sort of world does 30k a week become a paltry sum? That's where the "greedy bastard" accusations come from. From the absolute unreality of the figures getting bandied about. It's all a matter of perception I suppose.

Read your post back again Archers!

We don't know he asked for a rise, that is speculation.

Who said it was paltry as I genuinely cant recall that .

And if he is offered that should he decline it to appease you and the majority on here. Bollocks to that, I wouldn't.

It is systematic of the business of football, if you don't like it don't follow it!

I for one don't think he has been a mercenary or greedy bugger...
