not caught up on the second one yet, didn't think the first one was too bad, but i found certain elements to it too formulaic, like they were trying too hard to be like the old top gear. Liked Matt LeBlanc, Chris Evans (if he can) just needs to ****ing tone it down a bit, like with changes to facebook and that, sure most will get used to it and it'll surely pick up as the chemistry between the presenters improves, that ultimately was the strongest element of the old top gear for me.
First episode was ... OK , it was as good as the later top gear years , which had become too staged and boring ... So for me it was very similar with a boring uk v us theme and wooden le blanc Episode 2 was much much better , the introduction of Eddie Jordan and especially her from Texas , brought it to life , LeBlanc was really good , the OB was believable , ppl looked like they weren't trying to act and genuinely enjoying it all , reminded me of a pre Hammond accident episode ... Only concern is it may be a one off as the OB videos are already filmed ,
I enjoyed the section regarding South Africa this week, as it wasn't all about Chris Evans. Leblanc is far funnier that Evans as he has a drier style of presentation. Because it's basically the same show with new presenters Evans will obviously get compared to Clarkson, and this is where Evans fails on all counts. He's gobby, not funny and bland. I'd bin Evans, get Sabine and Eddy and Leblanc as the 3 mains presenters as Sabine is very funny and is a proper racing driver. I think they would work well. Evans is just a cock who thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread and everyone loves him.
It seemed to be they went all out on this episode with the pre-filmed stuff - picking their strongest bits - for the second episode to try and get people back on side. Episode three might be similar be after that it'll be downhill. They've made the mistake of taping ALL their material before the series (the Clarkson&co episodes would still be filming for the last couple of episodes by the time the first episode had gone out so if they needed to make changes, they could). There just doesn't seem to be any natural chemistry between them for me and competition videos haven't felt very competitive.
I dunno anything about episodes 3 or anything after , you have made ur mind up already , one thing about Chris Evans is (and he is divisive like Gervais ) is he knows how to tweak his own shows n wot not . I'll give him time , it's not like it's having a kidney removed , just telly .
When Jenson Button retires he would make a great presenter, really enjoyed the bit with him driving in the McLaren with Evans.
I am with you on Evan's can't stand him, as soon as he comes on the TV I turn over or off. Danny Baker I can stomach, his Saturday morning radio show I quite like.
Second show was much better as Evans was a lot less vocal and not as annoying accordingly. Hopefully someone told him to tone it down or maybe give him some credit for realising it all by himself. Think it's daft to try and compare to the last series and just remember it took years to get TG to where it was and accept it may never be that good again, like a lot of things in life. The BBC will always try and hype it up as it's such an earner for them overseas.
Baker's radio show is a decent listen, but he's really irritating when he's interviewed and he's a really smug twat on Twitter.
the thing about top gear, is that its about 3 middle aged men arsing around in cars. it is marmite TV. now it is too inclusive and too PC. black presenter, woman presenter? I think they should have made another show instead of trying to polish a turd.
I watched the first one, I know there is Evans and LeBlanc, but I also saw an article in one of the Times magazines, cant remember if its radio or TV,. it shows the lineup of new TopGear presenters. there is a german woman and a black guy.
