<laugh> Understatement of the year goes to...

In what way has Kroenke been good? Tell me their ticket prices again? Got rid of the supporters trust didnt he?
Henry tried to do what with the pass prices?

Born in Pakistan been there since he was 16.

Which makes him as Pakastani as Allam is Egyptian.

I was actually talking about how successful the clubs had been under their stewardship, rather than how good they were to the fans.

Lets hope it gets done.

But

The yanks dont have a good record in taking on English clubs, do they?

The last time an Egyptian sold a club, punching above its weight, an American bought it and look how that turned out.

We're not punching above our weight.

We're currently a PL/Championship yo-yo club and that's right for the only club in a city this size.

Sort of agree, though it has taken us over a century to reach this position. We are punching above our weight relative to our history.

Historical success is irrelevant to our standing now.

Even if you do look at history, we've mainly been a second tier side.

I have been to both in Canada, Hull and Halifax, unfortunately Hull from memory was French speaking.
Hull is in Quebec and definitely French - t'other side of St. Lawrence from Ottawa. Hull used to be a very vibrant place...just a few miles away was a brilliant club ("Chaudiere") which was famous for attracting some of the best bands from North America still doing the circuit in the early 70's. I recall seing the Everly Brothers and Sha Na Na there one night. Also famous for massive brawls and bike gang "incidents".

I might be able to top you there John ! I've actually been to all three of the famous "Hell, Hull and Halifax" as mentioned in the old expression.
I used to work in an iron ore processing plant north of Trondheim in Norway. Passed through a small town/village named Hell en route to the plant a couple of hours drive north. There's a humorous sign on the station platform in Hell that says "Gods Expedition"...think their only income was from selling postcards of that sign. <laugh>

Before anyone says it...NO RELIGION, I'd better stop.

I think you out trumped me there, I have been to Tromso in Norway, not relevant I hear you say, but just thought I would mention it.

Not at all John, it's interesting. That's about 400 miles(as the crow flies) north of where I worked (Steinkjer in N.Trondelag)...probably a good 18 hours to drive in the best of conditions. Were you in the Merchant Navy, or did you visit on some sort of cruise ?
I loved it in Norway - many similarities to Canada's barren but beautiful scenery. I'd love to revisit the place someday - but I suspect most of the wonderful locals I met there would be long dead (I worked there in '67 before emigrating here).
You're probably right - not really relevant to discussing City's new ownership, but **** 'em all :emoticon-0105-wink:

Interesting about that. Hull being right across the river from Ottawa one would think English would be welcome there. One need not be Parisian to be unreasonably arrogant about French.
Indeed it was...a large % on both sides of the Provincial border were perfectly bi-lingual. In fact, I married a French Canadian lass from Ottawa who spoke better English than I did !

Hull City is financially stable. It has demonstrated that it is capable of servicing it debts and has a minimum income that any business would envy.

In my opinion, of any club currently for sale, Hull City has to be a bargain at £100m.

Any individual or group that wishes to own a Premier League club would see that this is an opportunity worth exploring.

Have you ever been to Akureyri in Iceland? Just wondered, this is football related (just in case, we end up discussing fish bbq)

Oh dear. Another thread goes off piste. No blame for Syd Tiger this time.

I dont know if this has been mentioned but I have seen on the American facebook groups that the Sports Group buying us is supposed to have a net worth of $4 Billion split between the 3 Americans in the group.

Anyone else wonder if this is all just to help sell season passes, sorry memberships, and the Allams will still be in charge?

Have thought something might stop it happening but i think they have genuinely been seeking out a good buyer even if it is to say i told you i would leave it to a good home, but i also think they may know Bruce will leave if they stay and that a lot of supporters are unhappy with them and could get worse if they stay and i think that is enough for them to make the deal go through.
