if I were a retiree living in Spain I would have a few questions about my future: - will my UK pension still have its annual 2.5% rise - it does in the EU where we have a social security agreement, but not in places like Australia? - as my EU health card will no longer be valid will I have to pay for my health care (which currently is paid for by transfers from the NHS budget, £4K a head on average)? - where the **** will I live when I have to come back to the UK? To the end of March, 72,000 Spanish expats had returned to the UK in the preceding few months. Make that a six figure rush in the case of Brexit.

I think it's meaningless and her decision is incoherent Beth. She is a nonentity anyway, but why would you change your mind about Brexit because of a campaign lie? Just criticise the campaign and leave it, but maintain your position on the EU. If you want to change your mind, say why you are doing that and then criticise the Brexit campaign. Presumably as an MP she has had access to all the information and should have made up her mind on the economic arguments long ago. It's all a bit odd, but I find myself strangely relieved that she's not my GP. What will do more damage to the Brexiters (or would if more people actually listened to it), was John Redwood's defence of the £350m figure on the Today programme just now, delivered in what I assume to be Vulcan.
Gove, Johnson and Farage have stated the importance of everyone voting and have no problem with the extension to get people registered. In fairness to Redwood, he said several times that the £350m plus figure was gross, and net was about half that. Agree about Woolleston. She's shown herself to be incredibly lightweight to flip-flop on such a vital issue because she has a problem withe the messengers. Lacking both courage and conviction
Just heard her on the wireless. She's not even junior minister calibre, all over the place, though she did sound very sincere and rather confused, altogether too nice to be a politician. Owes her seat to the collapse of the Lib Dems I'm guessing. I like Totnes, though it teeters on the edge of twee hippy, but nowhere near the scale of Glastonbury, thankfully. Got a great butchers. Then why don't they use the net figure when they promise extra NHS funding and fuel VAT cuts? It is genuinely misleading. And, before you say it, the Remain sides every family £4,300 worse off stuff is misleading too, as it implies everyone's salary will be cut rather than a guess at the cumulative impact of a whole range of things. But for the Brexiters this £350m is becoming an albatross around their necks, the discussion is all about their honesty and not the issues. I suppose it is too late for them to back down without looking even more dishonest.
The 350 million, as well all know includes the rebate, how can they spend all 350 million elsewhere in the event of a Brexit? Unless they are expecting the EU to still be sending us the rebate after we've left? That's why the figures are misleading
It also includes all the EU money that is spent in the UK. Though I would accept that this could, possibly, be spent more efficiently if we allocated it directly and cut out the middleman. £2.5bn goes from us, to the EU, and back again in subsidies to farmers. Which presumably we would have to maintain if we left the EU as many farmers depend on it. We are net contributors to the EU (some countries have to be), but it's about £8bn. A huge amount of money, but in the context of overall government spending, virtually nothing (about 7% of what we spend on the NHS alone). I think it's a red herring in the campaign, the overall economy, immigration, 'sovereignty' are the real issues.
