My 1st car was a Rover 213 with a manual choke which was a nightmare! Also it ended up with rust all over the boot and wheel arches. No wonder Rover went bust!
I currently drive a mazda 6. It has 2.2 diesel engine and like **** off a stick. Don't see many of them on the road compared to the Insignia and mondeos.

Anything with a Aston Martin 5.3 litre V8 in it.

Top of the list is the Works Prepared Driving Dynamics V600/Le Mans Vantage
please log in to view this image

    5.3 litre twin supercharged V8, 600 BHP, 600 lb/ft, 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, 200 mph top speed and weighs 2 tonnes.

The 5.3 litre V8 was originally designed in 1969 for the DBS V8 and used up to the last of the hand built Aston's in 2001.

Here's a video of a 1980's Series 3 V8 Vantage with the X-Pack engine upgrade. Turn up your speakers and enjoy.

you would still get done off the traffic lights by a lotus 7 even in that, a 1.6 k series would thrash that

True. But I'm not going to spend my time in a Vantage racing from traffic light to traffic light.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a Se7en (Lotus, Caterham, Westfield, Dax...). I've driven a Superlight around a track twice and they are phenomenal.

    But that Aston.....

I can bearly tell the latest Astons apart (except the one-77 and Vulcan). They are nice enough, but for me they don't come close to the 80s/90s Vantage.

Fair one. I prefer all the later ones. Everything from the DB7 onwards.

That's not that bad for having so much fun on 4 wheels mate. A clapped out fiesta would cost that FFS.

I'm thinking about getting shot off there Harley and would need some sort of toy to play with, might take a look at one of them. Cheers Rog :emoticon-0148-yes:

Haven't got that far yet mate, i've only just to receipt of a set of chrome fork lowers for the Harley and need to fit them, then get it mot'd and taxed, thrash it about a bit during the summer then make my mind up what i want to do.

If i do get rid it'll most likely be around September (ish)

When talking about looks, there's only one Aston Martin. None of the others come anywhere near...

All these new ones, designed by dorks on computers... forget about that ****. You'll never see a car made like the DB5 again, these new ones will roll off the production line every year, like different coloured Nike Air trainers, each one of them as soulless as the next.

All the new cars look pretty for 5 years, then just pale into insignificance, the DBS proves this, it's stunning to look at but it was king for all of 5 minutes.

When I was a kid it didn't get much better than the likes of a Sierra Cosworth and I still like a box of a car these days.

Love them, preferred the RS500 coupe to the 5 door saloon.

£40k-50k for a decent one with low miles nowadays I'd imagine.

i said it represents! That is a huge fuel guzzling car that does not really serve any practical purpose represents greed and inequality, which you could certainly link to many of the other examples you quoted... As I stated, this is my opinion and the way I see things, and don't expect the majority to share my views until it's too late to do anything about it..

It serves the same practical purpose as any other car. It also serves an aspirational purpose - although aspiration seems to be increasingly unfashionable.
Given that there are currently only 55 taxed and on the road in the UK they are hardly a major contributor to air pollution.

Too late to do anything about what ?
