Can't see the logic in buying Vardy. You and Leicester couldn't be further away in style of play, and Vardy suits quick counter attack with balls over the top and behind the defence to run onto.

There's a turn up for the books. At this rate we could have a whole new team by the season start!

Ok who is this manager and what has he done with our Arsene Wenger!

David Ornstein reporting that we have triggered Vardy's release clause as well, so looks like this is def happening!

Also if this is true and we sign Vardy for £20m as well as the Xhaka signing for £30m then we'll have enough spare cash to sign Varane!

Mr Wenger make it so! :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Well he was one of the leading scorers in the league, finishing with 24 goals, scored 3 goals in 8 internationals and is the Football Writers Association's Player of the Year, so at the very least you have to say he's better than what we've got. And he's got better stats than Morata...

Not denying he did well for Leicester, I hope you see where I am coming from, he is simply not an Arsenal type player. I just cannot see him playing for Arsenal. I hope this is a wind up.

Looks pretty legit considering the amount of media outlets reporting on it and people like David Ornstein stating it as fact.

Ridiculous signing if true. Not the striker we need at all. He's had one good season at the top level (which could easily have been a fluke) at the age of 29. Unless we're planning on sitting deep and playing counter-attacking football, Vardy wouldn't be of any use.

I'll be extremely underwhelmed if this goes through.

Precisely my sentiments, have nothing against the lad... However, he is not what we need.

What is an 'Arsenal type' player? And what have we achieved with these 'Arsenal type' players, exactly? Not winning the league, that's for sure. Vardy is different, he offers something dramatically different to Giroud, he constantly runs in behind and as shown last season, can finish. For the price, in this current market, it's not a massive risk to take.

I have a horrible feeling that he may prove to be a one season wonder

Very risky signing if true. To buy a striker based on one season and at the age of 29? He fits Leicester's style of play because the manager has got it working perfectly for him and he could be those kind of players that flops when he leaves.

Who knows, maybe he can replicate that form and do something for us. But it's not the type of signing I was expecting.

It would be a very surprising transfer to make if we signed Vardy. But why not ? He's scored a bucket load against just about every other premier league team so he's proved himself in his league. I'd rather spend £20m on Vardy than £50m on morata.

What about £50m on Benzema? Also basing a signing on one year for a team with a totally different style of play and makeup is risky.

I'm hoping I'm proved wrong but this comes across as a little desperate. It's certainly not the kind of striker we were looking for all this time.

I would much rather we spent £50 million on Morata than £20 million on Vardy.

Personally I see Vardy as competition for Giroud. He's basically a different option that can also play wide - In other words he's Wengers replacement to the injured Wellbeck.

With Vardy in the side Giroud is still going to be starting ALOT of games. We should be brining in a World Class CF to replace Giroud who is simply not good enough to be first choice at an elite Club.

To be fair a lot of people are claiming that we need to go out and get a world class striker, but the problem is that there are not that many world class strikers out there, you can be sure wenger has a lot of contacts in football and will be aware who is available, and who would be out of our price range. Could be that this so called world class striker is not available or out of our price range. We have already spent 30+ million, im not sure we can afford to pay out 50 - 60 million on another player. So rather than do nothing, like last season, wenger has decided to take a risk, personally I think its a risk worth taking unless we can get one of these world class strikers everyone keeps talking about. Morata is to expensive at the prices being quoted.

<laugh> would that be the Giroud that has just score his 3rd goal in 1.5 games for France?
Perhaps your "elite club" are not quite up to his standards whereas France are :emoticon-0100-smile
