Frankly not bothered about Ron leaving! Ron has done really well at Saints, so thanks and let's move on. Not even bothered he is going to Everton good club and a move for money, which is what most people will do!
More interested in who might be coming in?

The Adkins stuff almost makes me dislike the man, which is unfair, but my god it's tedious and utterly misdirected. Anyone would think he's Bill Shankley rather than a chipper, slightly annoying, deeply average journeyman manager.

Perhaps. But it's probably better to have a really good manager who only stays a year or two than never to have a really good manager at all?

Sorry, that's a bit too harsh, but that's where all the "I'd take Nigel back in a heartbeat" stuff drives me!

I just love all these "meeting at St Marys" rumours." Obviously that is just what Saints would do- meet at the stadium.
I expect there's a Jag parked there now with the registration "AVB 1", just alongside the F6NTE and the Kia with "YE4H RGT"

I'm with you some extent there LTL, Adkins is a smashing bloke, but was just our promotion manager - he got us to the premier league, which was also his personal ceiling and so we upgraded, end of story really.

Press just looking at the usual suspects...may be one of them, but equally could be someone from left field. Just want it sooner rather than later.

Wish I'd slapped a tenner on AVB last night when it was 16-1. Down to 4-1 now.

Agree - another reason AVB & de Boer are good options - both are unattached, so no compo to be agreed between clubs, only personal terms. Could be sorted very quickly

I sat there ready to place £20 on AVB at 8/1 with BetVictor last night and thought I'd wait and let the market open wider.

    Fail.

Simeone is 80-1 which gives you an idea of the reality there. Egil Ostenstad, currently a recruitment consultant is 150-1 :)

I'm not a betting man, but if that much money is being put on AVB, that fast, then we're almost certainly sounding him out at the minimum. Someone knows something, certainly

Remember when we were linked with managers in league 1?

This is exciting. Imagine if we get De Boer, or Villas-Boas. They would both be great IMO - proven winners.

The fact that they are both realistic targets for us speaks volumes.

I stopped reading after the following line "I think he wanted to see if Saints offered massive money in terms of transfer budget"

Koeman himself has previously stated that we wouldn't need many new players, for next season, depending on how many we kept or lost. I don't think the transfer budget would have been a sticking point.

I'm off on a 2 week cruise tomorrow and will be deliberately off-line, but if we were to appoint Ryan Giggs as manager can someone get a message to me so that I can jump overboard?

To describe Adkins as average is harsh- his verbal peculiarities should not detract from his achievements. We will never know how he may have finished that first season after a steep learning curve and a nightmare set of opening fixtures. Do I think he is as good as Pochettino ? No, but he would probably have kept us up and then who knows?
Given our track record, I suspect our next manager will come out of left field. Pardew was a surprise in that we were pleased that he would drop to L1. MP was a "who?" And RK a case of "oh, has he gone into management ?" for many of us.
