Not convinced with either TBH. AVB was not a sensation at WHL, arry came along and made him look bad! I like Howe but can he do what he does at B'mouth anywhere else? His stint at Burnley was technically a step up at the time and he returned to b'mouth.
He got 72 points. I really don't understand how people think he *wasn't* good at Spurs. I've got a mate who's a Spurs STH and he said AVB deserved more support from the board and wasn't supported through the rocky patch. They played some good stuff under him and he set their record Premier League points total. They had a rocky patch and Levy got trigger finger. Ronald did the same earlier this season and Les showed that's not his style. AVB likes projects, has a similar philosophy and his meticulous approach suits the club too. I'd be chuffed with him. * - also, Harry didn't come along and make him look bad. He was post-Harry and they then bumbled along with Sherwood before pinching Poch off of us.
AVB is a well respected manager in Europe and has good PL experience. He could be the perfect man to take us forward. Who cares if he didn't do that well at Spurs. Pochettino did **** at Espanyol before he came to Saints.
To agree a contract, I suppose. I never said that Koeman or the club were unwilling to make a deal, I just said that maybe there was a bit of reluctance from both parties (from club about giving assurances to Ron about spending in the market, from Ron to commit long term without those assurances) which made it easier for Ron and the club to make a deal with Everton. It wasn't trying to attack the ambition of the club, more to find an angle of looking at this whoich doesn't make Koeman look as two faced hypocryte tit, as I happen to like him.
Martinez got 72 points with Everton. That worked out well. I personally don't like AVB as I think his sides (at least Chelsea and Tottenham, I don't know about Porto and Zenit) played boring football (I could elaborate on that with more detail). You might not agree, but you can't say that a dislike of a style of play is not a valid argument for not wanting a certain manager.
Why the Sigh ? I have always assumed RK told him he had to stay . If I am right , he may well move on . If I am Wrong , someone else convinced him to stay . So in the latter case I will be happy , I just happen to think the former is more likely .
