Even if they got some decent bands, even if they are a bit old. I saw REM and Red Hot Chillies at Portman Road. Which was fun, even though not all that exciting. But that's better than the Rod Stewarts, Simply Reds and Elton Johns we keep getting!
Here here, Norwich used to have a fantastic music scene! Went to see the Burning Crows recently, but not much else exciting going on.
I use to go to a gig a week! For about 3 years! There was always some really exciting bands on.It's totally died off! I can't find a single gig that makes me excited enough to book. I use to go see all sorts of amazing Post-Rock bands. Had some really beautiful gigs, especially at the Art Centre. Instrumental bands playing beautiful melodic music that really builds to a rocking out ending. Was stunning in the Church venue. With the lighting. Get non of them anymore. A lot of bands who use to love Norwich and play here every year, haven't been here in many years. Biffy Clyro, 65daysofstatic, British Sea Power, Editors, iForward Russia!, Mew, Jeniferever, Caspian, God Is An Astronaut, Daughter....etc etc. Use to love it here, Seen them so many times. I use to have a mate who would put on small gigs, but eventually grew to doing waterfront and Art Centre gigs. He would bring in some fantastic bands, I use to help him promote and give him band names to try. He moved to London years ago though Just looking at the UEA Website now: Gary Numan UB40 Nelly Peter Andre Levelers Tribute bands Are we still in the late 80's/early 90's!?

Peter Andre!!! it's enough to make you give up the drink. As you know I'm a "little old Grandpa" but still love my music, Rock and Roll never dies! Seen some AWSOME bands in my time, this child of the sixties misses "real music" written and played by the bands themselves, not written by someone churning out crap and electronic sounds created without a instrument in sight!
I find the criticism aimed at the UEA arts department and their line up of artists unnecessary. You can't blame them for booking these has been acts. We should all just stop complaining buy our tickets and applaud Peter Andre Nelly and Chas and Dave as professional entertainers who try their best .
Apparently, it's one of the factors that entices students to study at UEA!!!! It's ranked 18th in the top 125 Universities in UK, so that helps as well.
You applaud Peter Andre if you want, that's your choice. Personally I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire!
I saw the legendary please log in to view this image (?) French composer, arranger, producer and DJ and keyboard player Ludovic Navarre, otherwise known as St Germain while I was in Ljubljana. Pigeon-holed by wiki as Acid jazz, nu jazz, downtempo,deep house. Part of an annual world music festival now in it's 32nd year. Such a fantastic, vibrant city, 2 hours from Stansted. Serious question for anyone logistically minded. Why don't they put the stage in front of the main (city) stand as the (soon-to-be-renamed) Jarrold stand has far more seats and facilities? please log in to view this image
All grounds seem to do that. I have no idea why. You'd think use the biggest stand! It must work out that the floor space can fit more people this way. Somehow.
