I would have thought Martinez has been found out, especially defensively. To take a side with Coleman, Stones, Barkley and Lukaku to 11th should show that he is not quite top half material. Weren't they similar in terms of performances to Liverpool when he took over?
Martinez is a ****ing clown.

His first season was great but he inherited a side that was incredibly solid defensively from Moyes, he added Lukaku to it and some attacking flair and we came 5th with 72 points. However, he doesn't know the meaning of the word 'defence' and Moyes legacy wore off and we were left with a side that was defensively mince under his stewardship. The last 2 seasons have been awful barring the cup runs.

You could do far worse than Moyes imo. He did a fine job at Everton and is vastly under rated by many. His net spend at Everton was £11m in 11 years, and we were top 6 regulars. He's got a canny eye for a player and is extremely thorough

We could also do a lot better than Moyes. There will be managers better than Moyes who will want the job.

I like Moyes, and if AVB & De Boer weren't free agents, I'd consider him, but I rate those two better & we could have one signed by the end of the weekend if either is interested as there's no silly compensation to be agreed or other such stuff.

I'd be interested to see how De Boer did in the PL.

His record at Ajax was great, but the Dutch league is akin to Scotland, so he'd be a calculated gamble.

I've never been a fan of AVB tbh, albeit I don think he'd be a bad appointment

Yeah, who'd want to take a gamble on a manager from the Dutch league.... Only for some thieving gits to steal him away <whistle>

AVB said to be interested, Howe, Emery, De Boer.
Emery ****ed us off despite the salary so I can't see that one. PSG and Milan are rumoured to be interested.

Howe would be good popcorn value with your neighbours eh. I like him a lot, and I think he could go on to be a top drawer manager that lad, but he needs to take a step up, and the job at your place might well be the ideal opportunity for him.

I'd be very happy with AVB, Howe or Emery.

I'd thought the Everton job would have been suited to Howe. The chance to turn a lower/mid table side around would have done wonders for his reputation. :)

Haha, he's a Blue as well is Howe.

Maybe he can continue his education at the Saints and then when Koeman leaves for Barca we can come back for him <whistle>

The David Dein story is accurate mate, as in he's been spoken to about taking up a position at the club, but it's not certain he'll accept.

As for who we'll be trying to sign, that'll depend on who the new DoF is, a role we've not had before.

The biggest task we face is finding a replacement for Lukaku

We'll take half what you get for Lukaku for Pelle. There you go, sorted it for you. <whistle>

Of the main names being listed, I would suggest that every one of them looks like a gamble of sorts except for Moyes. Even Howe, AVB and Flores, who of course have all managed in the PL before (but never with a side of our 'standing'). But I don't see anything wrong with seemingly taking a gamble. Poch and Koeman I would say were both gambles from the outside, but both were a great success. So long as the board are happy with they man they appoint - and why wouldn't they be? - and believe that he can continue on from when Ron will leave off, then fine.

The caliber of managers we are talking about is unbelievable really. <laugh>

Show's how far we have come, everyone outside expecting a meltdown whereas there's almost been no better time to be a Saints fan!

I like that fact that BetVictor think it's more likely we could get Enrique from Barcelona, than appoint someone like Jol or Garcia.
