When was the last time the corners of the ground were cheaper than the rest of the stands they were in?

Why does it matter? You're missing the entire point which is that as long as adults and kids are charged the same there is no concession price.

I recall similar discussions and polarisation over other topics, such as the ASI fund. Wanting a thing to be read one way, doesn't make it so. Experience should show that just leads to dissapointment and frustration. The rule shouldn't be viewed in isolation.

I hope the prem don't accept argumens similar to the ones I'm suggesting, but they are there to be made.

That argument was offered earlier. They extended the concession to those already sat there. If they followed your argument, they could just evict them and comply.

Or you know, implement an actual concession by charging kids the rate they used to...

That'd be nice, but it's not really relevant to the current scheme complying with the rules or not.

You brought it up. Seniors and children have their own areas of the ground they can sit in. Zones 1 and 2 are for them. They are the cheapest seats in the stadium, therefore they have been given a concession. Its not an individual concession granted but it is a concession. It is up to them whether they accept it or not.

Have a look at Arsenal's membership scheme and see how similar it is to ours. The only difference is that there are different prices for adults, seniors and children in the family enclosure. Everywhere else its one price. Members get match day tickets slightly cheaper but adults, children and pensioners all pay the same for the vast majority of seats at the Emirates.

Unfortunately I don't see the Premier League telling Arsenal to rip up their membership scheme to protect our pensioners and kids. If the Premier League put their foot down my view is we'll some slight changes in the pricing for zones 1 and 2.

Well it is considering the current scheme isn't compliant because there are no concessions in any stand. <doh>

You know that one little difference you mentioned? That different price for kids and adults? Yeah that's the concession pricing we don't have.

Zone 2 in the North isn't for them.

<laugh> In the context of this thread, it;s a rather significant difference.

There is no zone 2 in the north.

Its only a significant difference if the Premier League say so.

Adults in the south stand paying zone 3 prices, children paying £5 a month less and senior citizens paying the same as now would be offering concessions as the majority of the board understand them. It would be the mirror image of the Arsenal scheme. Would you class that as a victory? I wouldn't.

Zone 1 in the north is for people who last seasons had concessions, young and old, according to the brochure.

They get priority, but it's still open to anyone else who wants to go in there.

It was actually added to limit the increase for the U21's who were already in the North, who don't need concession prices under the rules anyway.

Which brings us back to whether priority to get the cheap seats is a concession in the eyes of the Premier League. Not long to wait to see what there view is.

You haven't answered the bit about reducing children's monthly payments by £5, increasing the adults' payments to zone 3 levels and leaving pensioners as they are currently for the family stand. A small change like that will bring us in line with Arsenal and the Premier League rules. Do you see that as a victory?

I think if they introduce any form of concessions, the whole principal behind the membership scheme is lost and they might as well change it completely.

Discussing hypothetical changes is pointless, as we have no idea what those changes would be, they certainly wouldn't be what you've suggested as pensioners don't currently qualify for the seats in the family stand.

The only way we fall into line with Arsenal's pricing, is if we offer concession prices to kids and seniors and that would certainly be a victory.

The Premier League telling Hull City to reintroduce "concessions" is an hypothetical change.

Arsenal offer a maximum of 4,000 concessionary prices out of a stadium of over 60,000. Of course the actual number of concessions will be less than that as adults with children are allowed in the enclosure. Our equivalent would be around 1,700 seats. Under half the capacity of the South Stand. City could introduce concessions for the zone 2 seats in the family stand and offer a bigger percentage of concessions than Arsenal.

I don't see that as much of a victory.

I've asked an Arsenal pass-holder, with kids, how things actually operate there, I'll let you know what he says.

Not that I think it's that significant, as they clearly offer concession prices to kids and seniors already.

It's a pity more on here don't embrace the word and principle of being reasonable, but it's good the law and judgement makers do.
