How he earns a living as a footballer is a mystery to me.

<laugh> I am forever telling my kids when they follow recipes "read ALL the words". The same is often true in life. I'm lucky in that I can read much faster than I type so I've usually worked out which end of the stick I've got hold of before I hit post.
When Zlatan does miraculously sign for us though, I'll salute your prescience. :emoticon-0100-smile

People need to remember Martina was only signed because Mugabe got injured. Maybe we feel he will block the way of our youngsters so won't get a new contract. Like Fats and others I think he is decent bit not a starting rb.

On Chambers. It wouldn't be a loan.

    Good point, very well made:azn:

Nevertheless, my other point, which was the main point really, still stands. Which was that basically, whilst I wouldn't mind if he left it would worry me that we would then have Jay Rod, who is beginning to have the look of someone who is never going to recover fully from his injury, and Austin, who, apart from one magical moment, hasn't made much of an impression yet.

So, if he does go I think we would need to replace rather than assume we already have the adequate fire power at the club.

I'd love to see Chambers back. I think he has the potential to be better than Clyne. Not as a loan though.

Our record of loans with an option to buy has been excellent!

Chambers made it quite clear that he didn't see his future with Saints when he left why would we now go back and give him a springboard to kickstart his Arsenal career ? For me a loan is an absolute No No. If hes offered to us at a cut price and he wants to come back then that is another story.

Worked out OK for Bertrand....although I don't know if we had an option to buy, or it just worked out that way

We had an option to buy for £10m unlike Toby where we did not have an option to buy it was really just a loan agreement.
With the loan/option arrangement if it does not work out we simply don't exercise the option and the player returns to his original club at the end of the loan period

I thought we did have the option to buy with Toby, but we had to make the offer by a specific date, which we missed.

We did have an option to buy, but Atletico also had an option to buy out the option to buy. As to who did what, it only gets more convoluted from there.
