Blog pointing out what we all know that Wanyama probably wants to leave in the summer. Miracles happen, but I wouldn't hold your breath. The only part I have a query about is this oft repeated statement that players lose value when they have one year left...that all depends how much the buying team want the player. If he is seen as essential (and I'm not saying Victor is to Spurs) the seller can set the price....if the player is one of a few choices, then the selling club can't be too greedy.

 

Reference Mane, I think it is important that we crank up the black box and try to get his replacement now, so that he is ready to step into his shirt, the following season, if we follow our trend (is it a trend now? - Clyne and maybe Vic) of releasing players with a year left on their contract.
Ditto Long, should he not extend his contract.
Get them in, settled and used to our way of doing things, to ensure a smooth transition.

 

A source close to me (that unfortunately I can't reveal) informs me that Zlatan was spotted in the chilled aisle (where else) of Asda in Eastleigh this afternoon...although he has previously said he doesn't play on Thursday therefore ruling out a move to Man Utd, he is understood to be willing to make an exception for Saints after being sold the dream by Jose Fonte.

He was buying yoghurt by the way, and bacon.

 

I don't for a second think we'll sign Zlatan but he's spoken very positively about Koeman in the past. If there was a surprise Koeman-Zlatan joint press conference (along the lines of the McMenemy-Keegan one I've heard so much about) during which Zlatan revealed Koeman had called him and told him that Zlatan and only Zlatan could lead Southampton to the Premier League title then I would be surprised but not astounded.
