The only part I have a query about is this oft repeated statement that players lose value when they have one year left...that all depends how much the buying team want the player. Reference Mane, I think it is important that we crank up the black box and try to get his replacement now, so that he is ready to step into his shirt, the following season, if we follow our trend (is it a trend now? - Clyne and maybe Vic) of releasing players with a year left on their contract.

I don't for a second think we'll sign Zlatan but he's spoken very positively about Koeman in the past. If there was a surprise Koeman-Zlatan joint press conference (along the lines of the McMenemy-Keegan one I've heard so much about) during which Zlatan revealed Koeman had called him and told him that Zlatan and only Zlatan could lead Southampton to the Premier League title then I would be surprised but not astounded.
