I'd feel especially sad if Sadio left and joined Liverpool. I mean, I really, really hope he doesn't go anywhere, but if he joined one of the big CL clubs it would be...understandable. Just not bloody Liverpool again. They really are getting so boring with this whole nicking our players stuff.

It is not just that, it is the fact we have finished above them for the first time ever and Sadio, you are so much better than that my man (e). Stay one more season and then see 1. Have we qualified for Chamions League, or 2. Can you get a really big team (Barca, Real, Bayern, Chelsea, United, City) - I wouldn't begrudge him those, but Liverpool .... second rate outfit now <laugh>

So we shouldn't sell to Liverpool (long lasting offence caused by Brendan) or Spurs (long lasting offence caused by Poch) or West Ham (long lasting offence caused by Allardyce) or most of the rest because they aren't a step up from us (so, you've guessed it, we would be offended) or Man U (because Mourinho might offend us). That leaves City and Arsenal and Leicester (no, not them...bastards beat us to it).

I don't understand why you would join a team who's not guranteed European football for atleast a season or maybe longer. I for one wouldn't put money on Liverpool finishing In the top 6 next season and feel overally confident of getting a return.

It's easy. Bigger club and more money.

Lets face it most of the top teams won't blink at putting a 1 in front of his existing Saints weekly wage even after we have offered him a contract extension. Don't believe all this rubbish about winning things, wanting to play Champions League, its mostly rubbish, it's down to how much can I earn....simples

Here's an idea...let's raid Celtic and buy all the best players form Brendan. :D Just because we can, and to see the look on his face.

Well unless I have an incredibly bad memory I seem to recall that you were saying when the rumours of Shaw/Chambers/Lallana/Lovren/Lambert leaving were coming out that it was media trying to derail the good work we had done, they wouldn't want to leave, Cortese would just flat out refuse to sell.

I don't really want to get into a big conversation about this, I was just pointing out to Latviandream that your usual stance when dealing with rumours is to not believe them and look at things positively.

No you don't have a bad memory. In fact it's pretty damn good. But, like I continue to say these days about transfer rumours, it is all BS until it actually happens. Even so, I wasn't confident in the slightest, back then, that we'd keep those players, which is the essential difference of what we're talking about. In all honesty, I don't think anyone predicted such an exodus, either. Even the wrist slitters.
Since those events, I think the future has been with my position on things. Nothing is ever as bad as the media wants to paint it. Certainly under this management.

Another player using yoh guys as a stepping stone to get the move to our great team eh <whistle>

I can't see us going for him properly. You guys will want upwards of £30m and I'm sure klopp will have other targets abroad, he's not like Brendan who just buys players from the prem after a decent season or two!

I still haven't forgiven Saints for that crap money and player exchange whereby we got Frank Saul and the North London Yobos got Martin Chivers. We always seem to lose out. I challenge anyone to name a player exchange where we did well. it also smacks of arrogance Ibe isn't good enough for Liverpool but he is good enough for us and Mane is far too good for us. We have to break this attitude if we are to be taken seriously as regular challengers for European Football. We must o longer be seen as little old Southampton.

I'll take that challenge: when we received Le Saux as a makeweight in Bridge's £7mil move to Chelsea.

Mane (as good a player as he is) strikes me as a bit of a sulking mercenary

2 years left on his current deal, so he either signs a new one or you cash in now whilst you'll still get top dollar for him.

I think Liverpool will have trouble attracting the really big players at the moment. No European football of any kind and rarely qualify for the Champions League. A big club with history who can pay loads of money, yes, but if the player wants more than that then Liverpool at the moment is not the place to go. I think unless Mane is driven by money he would be better off waiting for a better offer, that's if Saints are willing to sell this summer, which we do not know. As has been said many times we don't need to sell if we don't want to, we don't need the money.

Mane's not been particularly consistent either. He was dropped at one point this season. I'd prefer him to stay but if we lose him for big money I won't be quite as concerned as other people seem to be.
