Actually think the LVG option was the mistake...listening to yet another Fergie plan: bring him in steady the ship and bring Giggs through. Now they have no choice..no more restarting legacies and all out for immediate trophies.

The gamble is which Mourinho they get...the driven but under control guy or the ego maniac that will ruin the dressing room in one year to add to his cv.

It will be interesting.
Total fail mate, after Fergies chosen one went tits up he kept clear of manager appointments and has had no say in either van Gaal or Maureen.

He virtually guarantees trophies mate, who else who might have been available offers that?

He might not stick around for a decade but if he gets them back to being genuine title challengers, then it'll still be 'job done'

I agree with this. I honestly thought if they didn't move this summer then replacing van gaal next year was looking very dodgy.

So.... really... the pool to choose from was quite small, everyone really desired has a club bar mourinho it makes sense.

It might last 2 years I dunno but it'll be interesting there's quite a bit of work to do but 4 players I reckon will do it

I would assume not. I mean let's spend the incompetance around. Whoever picked vangaal... it worked really poorly so...

He knows how to beat you lot, so that's a start like

We beat ourselves.

The fact is sevilla have had to play the bank balancing game for years and his 3 europa are virtually miraculous.

They were not all that against us though. You could just see they'd specific targets while we just bottled it.

They were woeful in Spain this year so if he's smart he will want to get out of there cos it's so hard to keep selling and working off the scraps

That might mean everton will be attractive but it might mean he's looking for more.

He tactically outdid you in that second half with a side that you were vastly superior to on paper.

He's been forced to rebuild that side virtually every year due to Sevilla's finances.

The bloke has obviously got some genuine talent

Wasn't a wum....just repeating what plenty of manc sources said regarding Charlton and Fergie as Directors or whatever they are having misgivings about appointing Mourinho rather than following the original plan of one more year of LVG then Giggs.

LVG or your dressing room or a combination of both forced the boards hand...doesn't mean the plan wasn't there or misgivings about Mourinho didn't exist...

All our teams have very recent history of players throwing an unpopular manager under the bus. Mourinho is higher risk in upsetting the dressing room than most. Call it his ego or his drive he's confrontational and players egos as they are today make the combo risky. Doesn't mean he won't be an instant success.

It's just a switch from romantic thoughts of dynasty to pragmatism on your clubs part.

Nothing incompetent about the van Gaal appointment, the guy has a CV that can compare with most others.
Nobody knows how a manager (or player) is going to perform when moving to the PL from the less competitive foreign leagues (as you are finding out) so you can only hope they will carry their success with them. Mourinho is already tested here so should be less of a risk.

The thing is I could see how to beat us and called out everything he exploited... so... I also called who'd bottle it the week before.

What he did do is go in with a clear head where his side looked like their heads had gone. Compare that to the villareal nutter. Much calmer and clear game plan

They went straight for moreno. They played it long at nzonzi... simple stuff.

To get 3 europa on the bounce proves he's got it.

Ermmmmm.. a record of falling out everywhere, doing exactly what he did do... dinosaur football.. straight jackets..

Nothing at all to do with the prem. He did exactly what got him fired at barca and bayern.. years and years ago. He never adapted to modern game and deserved his sacking here for that alone.

You picked him when far better was available. You let him destroy signing after signing like Di Maria... he was frankly your nightmare and you know it.

Mourinho's record is very clear.. come into top clubs and win cos they are ready to.

If anything chelsea round 2 was his hardest job.

You need 4 players for him to succeed and to lose none.

Cb, 2 CMs, Winger... martial at left wing is not for me but could work with zlatan for 2 years I suppose if that's what you do.

If he goes in with sweinsteiger and Carrick you won't win the title. You need 2 top CMs.

If mourinho lasts longer than 3 years and hasn't fallen out with everyone it'll be a departure for him.

It's well known Charlton didn't want him because of his antics, Fergie is a friend of his but kept out of the whole thing.
The original plan was obviously for van Gaal to complete his 3 years, get the squad built and team playing as a unit for Giggs to take over, with another season it still might have worked (the squad building is going well) but with little visible improvement in playing style the change had to be made.

You could see it and as you say it was simple stuff yet, Klopp did absolutely nothing to counter it therefore he out thought you.

Best thing since sliced bread when it happened

Same with Moyes

Im not saying the effeminate one wont have some success but these Mancs do get carried away

Will end in tears!

Desperate stuff by them, who would seriously want him as manager. Major ****fest, embarrassing what they've become

As I said.... players bottled it. I called who would bottle it prior to game.

Moreno was also seen high fiving at ht so... again prob paid no attention.

The reality here is you've been on this wum line for 2 months and have had no impact. You're so desperate to do down klopp you've blown your credibility.

Or that Moyes and LVG were perfect stalking horses for someone like Mourinho to come in? Fergie was always going to be a hard act to follow. Mourinho now has enough distance between him and Fergie's legacy. LVG has helped to achieve that even if it was fluked rather than planned, but then I think whoever followed Fergie was on a hiding to nothing.

There's a reason Mourinho has always wanted the United job. I think he relishes the freedom at one of the biggest clubs in the world with the setup at his disposal. I think he'll take the club in a new direction, but I also think that will be shaped by the club as much as him.

I'm just laughing not at Utd but at the press who 6 months ago slaughtered mourinho are now trying to whitewash his record and recreate the special one.

It's quite quite funny. They really are such hacks

Problem being how to solve a problem that couldn't be solved with resources available at the time....bottlers...

Or can you give me (and Klopp) what way you would have went about it with our lot?

Which of our excellent steel spines players would you have selected and how would you have set them up?

Only he's right though.

Emery changed it at HT and Klopp did **** all to counter what he'd done until the game was already as good as gone.

Putting it down to merely the player 'bottling it' is nothing more than a comfort blanket that shields you from the truth of what happened there.

Hilarious.

So you deliberately failed to qualify for cl twice in 3 years and failed ro get out of group when you did get in. All so mourinho could come... well done with that master plan.

Stalking horses indeed. Hilarious.
