I am a teaching assistant in a school for children with severe behavioural problems (self harming, extremely violent, severely abused etc)
You say respect buddy but the kids scream GO **** YOUR MOTHER ... potato potarto I guess At least I get to entertain Mrs Remember and my daughters with my work stories!
It can be...but as challenging as watching bloody spurs!!! I use the same tactic in both being a spur and in my job...expect the worse and don't take myself seriously...seems to work most of the time. Until you wake upon the pavement with workmates telling to stop sleeping on the job You get a lot of satisfaction from showing them how a true adult is kind, gentle, funny and caring...and a lot of practice at dodging chairs! It's not as hard as I make it sound. ..I am just a drama tart
... don't do it @HRH Eatcustard the 20th - you will be caught and detained .... and become a target for sock throwers ...
They'd never throw piss filled socks at each other. ..that's a treat reserved for staff... a bit like how normal school kids give their teachers chocolate at xmas!
I would never have guessed Seriously though, I have some insight into this sort of work. I did 16 years with the NHS working with people who were suicidal, self-harming etc. Tough work and a thick skin needed ! I have a few stories to tell, one of the top of my head was visiting a client who was in the later stages of alcoholism and dementia. He hadn't been seen for a few days so me and the Police did a home visit. He was in his bed, covered in ****, piss and sick. He was so drunk and immobile that he'd shat into little plastic bags and left them all around the flat. There was **** up the walls, blood, piss and sick everywhere .... fun times
