I'm amazed...Brighton lost their spirit for the last 20 odd minutes...went out with a bit of a wimper in the end
Deserved over the 2 games perhaps but as Brighton had 89pts and Sheff Wed had 75pts I wouldn't say they deserve it, but then I'm not a fan of the playoffs. If the 4 teams are all similar it's not so bad but when the points difference is that much it doesn't seem right to me. Glad Saints were never in 3rd place and in the playoffs.
You mean the Liebherr Saints, of course. Yes the playoffs are hugely cruel. Especially so to Brighton as they were 3 goals away from being promoted through normal circumstances. But a lot of the time the difference between the competing teams is less.
I think we should spend a couple of moments of sympathy for poor old Pompey. 1 ...2. Right done that now we can start laughing again.
Indeed. Even though I like Steve Bruce, Brighton being beaten by the winners would be a crumb of comfort.
Only watched the second half, of the Brighton v Wednesday game. Wednesday were very well set up to defend, and Brighton, going forward, reminded me of Saints, before we learned to attack with more pace and directness. Lots of faffing around, on the edge of the box, taking too many touches, failing to find the gaps for the through ball, before losing the ball and risking being caught on the break. The Wednesday substitute striker, Nuhiu. Does his name translate as "brick outhouse" or "man mountain"? He looked huuuuuuuge.
If Wednesday do go up they are going to have massive gates again, nigh on 39,000 for most games. It will compensate for the loss of Newcastle Villa!! And it is about time Yorkshire had some representatives in the PL again. To summarise the North's number has increased from this season from 6 to 8 representatives.
