When asked if he would stick with United after relegation, Perez told the Chronicle: “Yes of course. I am with the team, I am with this city and I am with everybody.
“I want to be here to fight for the team and to come back. We need everybody to be together and be like a team.”

I believe Mitrovic has also confirmed when asked that he wants to stay at Newcastle.

I wonder how many will follow.

Krul is decent and if he's up for the fight then I'm happy as I think he's a touch better than Elliot and Darlow, though he will have to up his game as the past couple of years he's not been as good as previously - though niggles may be taking their toll.

Mitrovic and Perez would be magic though. I honestly don't think we will have both at the start of next season but if we do they are exactly the types of people who may benefit from a consistent run out in a lower league - I do think both could be mid-table Premiership players or better in years to come.

Would be a very good team to have in the championship - the issue we have is cover. We will lose plenty of players this summer (Wij, Cisse, Sissoko, Janmaat, Tiote, Colo, Taylor, etc.) and without them our cover is... Riviere, Campbell, erm.

I think Obertan would have been handy. Just saying.

Townsend has made comments about fighting next season to get us promoted straight away. Shelvey has also previously been quoted as saying he'd be staying put if we got relegated.

At risk of sounding cynical I doubt either would get better wages elsewhere - Shelvey in particular!

Think it was Danny Murphy on MOTD last night or the radio feed I was listening to who said if we keep Rafa, a core of players and perform like yesterday we could win every game next season. Obviously it is very doubtful but with the lad's who have SUGGESTED they are staying AND Rafa we can look forward to an enjoyable season in the Championship. With out Rafa we still may have a pretty strong basis of a team at this rate.
 
Townsend needs to stay. At least loan him out for 1 season. I can see above and mitrovic staying. Dummy and lascelles and maybe mbemba.
 
Do we have to sell anybody we dont have to? See who is up for the fight first, the sell the chaff. Sissoko and Wijnaldum and Janmaat have a lot to answer for this season. Part of me is saying, get rid, but the other part of me is saying , make the lazy ****ers sort out the mess or their careers are ****ed for a long time.!!

i think you answered your own question there <laugh>

Personally I'd get shot of any and all who don't fancy it, with some of the names mentioned above I think we will have a decent basis of a squad to begin with and with a few clever buys and hopefully Rafa pulling some strings we could end up with a good team to take on the Championship and fingers crossed go straight back up.

I like the sound bites, but would feel far greater confidence in retaining players if Benitez is confirmed.
 
Gini, Sissoko, Janmaat, Cisse, Tiote, Colo, Taylor plus the real dregs, don't let your arses hit the door on the way out, thanks for the "memories"!!!

Arma coming in is a huge plus, and I think the rest will stay. Need at least one full back though I wonder how good Mbabu and Haidara would be one division down. Ok so we do need a left back, and some experience at CB, plus I think a striker and that's really it? Or am I too optimistic?!
 
Townsend's dad is supposed to have come out and said Townsend wants to stay. Think I heard it on the radio.


What??? It's been a long day.
