It was part of the purchase agreement Blue (when the Qarari's bought the horse after she had won her first two starts) that Dods would continue to train her and PM would keep the ride.
My selection Goodwood Mirage just finished unplaced behind Indira at Newmarket but so pleased to see John Berry with a decent handicapper there, a thoroughly decent man whenever you hear him speak and always supportive to an apprentice. Josephine Gordon against some very strong Jocks in that race, she got there early enough but never panicked once pressed in the final furlong and kept her rhythm and pushed out well to the line. she has ridden this horse to 4 wins and a second in it's last 5 races
Went to York and it was a good days racing. Thought it was an unimpressive Dante field. Didn't like Midterm: looked light and tucked up. Pick of the paddock was undoubtedly Hamdan's colt and (as well as the winner) is the one to take out of the race. I should think it unlikely that Burrows would run Muntazah in the Derby but I'd think him a King Edward VII possibility. The 2yo race was fairly good I'd say. Again the Hamdan colt stood out in the paddock. A well-grown Dark Angel colt with plenty of scope Tafaakhor ran green when the taps were turned on and had no chance with his stablemate. Should pick up a maiden next time out.
I'm convinced Choreographer would have placed at the very least today with a clear run. Did Roger Varian say anything about his plans? I bet he ends up in the ****ty King Edward, bolting up with connections left wondering why they avoided the most open Derby in living memory.
He would certainly have finished a lot closer than he did. I backed him and was delighted with how he was travelling at half way but unfortunately the run he got was awful. Sadly connections would have gone home without gaining the information they needed today which, was simply is he up to it or not? with a clear run he could have took off or found little and sadly there is no time to run him again really.
