I don't think there's anything in it other than perhaps getting advice from SAF. I've heard that younger mangers do consult him from time to time. Also even if SAF did want to tap him up, there's no requirement for Poch to say yes. Why the hell would he agree anyway, the facts have been stated many times here. At the moment, and I'm rather proud to say it, Spurs probably offers a better option!

Not worried in the slightest, SAF has said a number of times he greatly admires Poch and believes he's the best manager in the Prem at the moment (was quoted somewhere saying it) and I think for Poch to hear that from what is quite possibly the greatest manager to have ever lived, it must've been very satisfying. If you had the opportunity to dine with him I think any manager in the game would take it up, not only would it be meeting an icon but it's also an opportunity to pick his brains, let's not forget Poch is still very young in the game and has **** loads to learn himself, who better to get ideas from than SAF?
Besides, is Utd a truly attractive proposition right now? Sure they're still the biggest club in the country but I think anyone with an outside perspective can see they're a far cry from the Utd under SAF. Providing City don't lose their last game, Utd will be in Europa League next season which won't attract the biggest of names and there's a number of players who just don't look up to the typical Utd standard, a huge overhaul is needed and I'm not sure the top managers would find that appealing, most like walking into a side that will need just one or two fixes in order to then challenge for titles.
I think a smart appointment for Utd would be Eddie Howe.

It's a different world to Bournemouth. He's a good young manager but to jump in the hot seat at Utd is pure madness at this stage of his career.
Poch is clearly the wanted man. Man Utd have the muscle to get what they want. It's obvious it'll happen at some point!!

I looked at the times and assumed that it wasn't going to be.
Seems odd to have one game kicking off a bit later than the other two, in that case. Weird.
Whereas experience in big managerial positions or just experience in general has worked well so far for Utd since Fergie's retirement?
What Howe has done at Bournemouth is nothing short of remarkable; Shoe string budget, tiny stadium, small fan base... To get them to the Prem was an amazing achievement but to keep them here with the football he's got them playing has been unbelievable. I think Leicester's season has probably made people take little notice at just what a superb job he's done, he's our nation's best young manager and would be completely deserving of a position with a bigger club should it arise.
Better lump on whatever odds we can get if Poch to Man Utd is obvious, eh?
I do get why people have mentioned Howe. It's got a lovely romance about it. However, I honestly think he'd get swallowed up at this point in his career.
I live 40 mins from Bournemouth and have seen them many, many times. They are in a different world to Utd (in every single way). To be a Utd manager you can't just be a good coach. You need everything, Howe hasn't got that YET.
Five years time if he continues to do well then perhaps. Far too early now though imo.

No doubting he'd be more prepared and experienced in five years but I still think from what I've seen of his time at Bournemouth that he has the skills now to take charge of a top side. For what it's worth I hope he stays with Bournemouth, I think he could turn The Cherries into a real good side with a bit more financial clout, I have a feeling Everton may come calling for him, can't see Martinez keeping his job after the season ends, though I'd much rather stick with Bournemouth than move there if I were him, I fancy Everton for the drop next year.
I think I read somewhere that Howe is an Everton fan. He would be an ideal fit for Everton, but I agree with you, I hope he continues at Bournemouth.
It all depends on how their summer goes: if they receive proper investment from Farhad Moshiri and use that and the probable windfall from selling John Stones for a grossly-inflated fee wisely, they should be able to compensate for the immediate losses with some smart signings as well as replacing the ageing legs of Barry, Jagielka, Osman, Pienaar and Hibbert - although if they bungle the summer for whatever reason, be it bad scouting or Moshiri being cut from a similar cloth as Shahid Khan...that might make for a stressful season.
