I always thought the Ajax thing was down to the Jewish connection. We're the Yid Army, they go by 'Super Jews'. Both connections trace back to their locations in predominantly Jewish areas, albeit there weren't many of Amsterdam's 80,000 Jews left once the nazis had finished with them
As clubs, we have similar backgrounds but I guess that could be replicated in many of the big European cities as anti-semitism drove large numbers of Jews west out of Russia and then Germany into more tolerant countries. It's a part of my family's history. My dad (his mother was Jewish and left Germany in 1928 after some people who liked to wear dark clothing killed her 20 year old husband) says, in the post-war years, all London clubs had largely equal Jewish supports. His father said it was very much the same back to the post-First World War era. Possibly they still do although how anyone, Jewish or not can support West Ham or Chelsea with their hatred, bigotry and racism is beyond me. The link, as I see it, is that, as racism reared its ugly head again in the 70's, the supporters of the two clubs refused to just 'take it' and as a collective support (Jew or not) decided to adopt a proud 'Yeah? **** you, racists!" response. It is ridiculous that the scum we played on Monday are still asking their 'supporters' to cut out the hatred and that the FA endorse 'Respect' and 'Kick Racism Out of Football' and ignore it, year after year. The Police do nothing. The clubs who perpetrate the abuse do bugger all. I am an atheist and would be very happy to see the end of all bigotry in football. However, the fight can only end when it has been won and all are equal and protected from the baying mob.
That you are so young and so accepting of something so awful is sad. You could speak out against it? It might start something good? I leave it to you and your conscience.
speak out about what? a minority of a minority of football fans, who get drunk and do/say moronic things? there are plenty of things i choose to work myself up over, a few idiots who want to get themselves locked up is not one of them.
Inside Dachau there is a museum. At the centre of the terrible contents stands this message from history: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. You could think about that?
because racist hooligans in this country are not condemed universally, issued banning orders or ridiculed in the media? ok brian...i'll let you keep reaching.
Yes, let's look at how the police are dealing with West Ham fans' anti-semitic chants in this video Does doing the square root of **** all count as "dealing with"?
Then it must be working. Yet your club still finds it necessary to request supporters not to do it. Funny that? Whilst the rest of you put up with it, it will continue.
After Fat Sam having another attempted snide dig at Spurs, Sunderland better win their game in hand. Because if Spurs win today, there will be no danger that they "lose the plot" against the Toon (in fact it can be quite a non-physical training 90 min training session) .
