Wenger has hardly flopped in the transfer market recently, all his buys have been quite spectacular...Ozil,Alexis,Cech,Chambers,Elneny,Welbeck...Gabriel has some question marks on him but the way hes grooming him,he might yet turn out to be another Koscielny...its getting these players motivated and fired up at the right is his problem...Had we won against United,Swansea,West Ham and Palace all very doable..we would be leading the table right now.Thats what wenger has lost during his ingenuity during the barren years of 2006-2013,his his success with great restrictions disguised the handicaps he himself was developing and now it bites us hard.
Spectacular? Eh? What have they helped us achieve......? Are we playing better football this year than compared to five years ago? Are they pushing us closer to winning the league? Are they pushing us further in the CL?
Well the buys are good in and of themselves, its the manager holding us back now,if say a Pep or Guardiola hypothetically came in tomorrow,he wont have wished that the money spent on the likes of Alexis and Ozil were spent elsewhere.
I think it's quite definite the manager is holding them back. Quite how good some of them can be is yet to be seen. Ozil however is top drawer. Cech too.
"Chelsea sacked Mourinho 7 months after winning the Champions League. West Ham moved on Sam Allardyce because they believed in more than just survival. Liverpool shipped out Brendan Rodgers when they caught the slightest whiff of Jurgen Klopp. Manchester City resigned the comparatively successful Pelligrini when Guardiola came onto the market. Spurs dumped Tim ‘mighty records broken’ Sherwood. Leicester sacked Nigel Pearson, for, errr, Ranieri? They all did it for progress." Unfortunately the ones in charge view an increase in profits as progress. They aren't in it for the football and it shows.
Following on from that article, there was a youtube video posted of Wenger's post match interview after the home 2-2 draw against Hull. He comes across as proper arrogant and rude, but she really got him with a couple of good questions. The question about Arsenal's defensive problems stemming from lack of defensive players and why he didn't sign a DM and CB in the summer when all the fans were crying out for it. Legendary!
While Alexis is not?!! Are you Kidding me?!!! The natural athletic attributes the kid has along with his numbers at various other clubs in the most competitive leagues(Serie A,Laliga) and internationally(like when he was key in winning them the last copa america)...there is no doubt that he is top top class. We should be pleased and warm we have him.
Being linked with a £50 million move for Lewandowski who is apparently looking for a move to the EPL. As unlikley as this would be. Lewandowski would be the perfect signing for us. Would fit right into our system. Would bang in the goals and would add some much needed tenacity.
Sanchez is our third best player and am outstanding player at that. But not consistent enough over a season... As proven at every club he's played at.
Arsenal are being linked with out of favour Spain midfielder Isco. “I can tell you, there’s a sort of agreement between Real and Arsenal to sit down at the table in the summer,” Giulianelli is quoted as saying by the Express Now he's a very talented player and I would be happy if we signed him but FFS! Another midfielder really?...
Apparently Hummels wants to leave for Bayern I'd love arsenal to match any offer bayern make surely dortmund would rather sell to us
Ox is out for 2 months now. We need a goal scoring winger (Mahrez, Fakir), a ST (I like Morata but we need a goal scorer. Lukaku maybe). With the slew of MF deadwood we have we should be strengthening there. Xhaka and Kante would be nice. A CB. Not sure who yet
Above all else get a good manager. Then hopefully a good squad would do well. Something like: --------------------------------------Cech---------------------------------------- --------------------------------------Ospina-------------------------------------- Bellerin-----------Koscielny----------------Hummels-------------Monreal Jenkinson---------Chambers-------------Paulista-------------------Gibbs ------------------------Xhaka-----------------Elneny--------------------------- -----------------------Coquelin--------------Ramsay-------------------------- Sanchez---------------------------Ozil-------------------------------Mahrez Welbeck-----------------------Cazorla-------------------------------Iwobi -----------------------------------Lukaku--------------------------------------- -----------------------------------Embolo-------------------------------------- Sell: Chesney Mertesacker Walcott Giroud Oxlade Wilshere Campbell (clearly not favoured)
Even with. Hummels - proven leader and arguably the best CB in Europe. Ibra - World Class. Total ego maniac. Nobody is denting his confidence. In terms of both quality and mentality these are the kinds of players we need.
