Unlucky boys, it was unfortunate you guys had such a poor start to the season and it's great to see Poch work his magic. Was a big fan of Poch as he seems to get on with the job without blaming people and having meltdowns like other managers. Also i've always been a fan of his pressing style. He seemed a bit sketchy at first (last season i had spurs defenders who weren't getting me any points !) but it seems like he's molded you guys into how he wants you to play.

Just a shame that it was Leicester ahead as everyone in the UK loves a true underdog story (een though there are players on both sides i dont like like vardy cause he's a gobby **** and huth cause he's a thug, Alli cause he's got a rooney/gerrard dark side to him and rose he seems like a dirty ****). I just feel the story of Leicester winning it is better as there can be no excuses for any team big or small to give up and not compete as Leicester have shown you can compete without money. Also who doesn't like Ranieri who is a true gent and hasn't ever won it. I'm sure Poch will have many an occasion to win it.

Anyway, you guys look like you might be in it for the long haul as poch has made your team the youngest in the league and brought through loads of youth players. You just need to pad your team out with some better difference makers.

What I find utterly baffling about the media representation of the season is that they were fully behind Leicester breaking the Sky cartel's stranglehold of the top spot...yet at the same time resented Spurs from also trying to break the Sky cartel's stranglehold of the top spot. That simply doesn't make any sense whatsoever, because how can anyone say "Good on you" for one team doing something while booing and hissing another like some kind of panto villain? That just underlines the issue with football writers in this country: once they have a narrative they stick to it regardless of what is actually happening (case in point, back in September some of the papers were drawing comparisons with our start to Ramos' in 2008/9, even though we had thirteen points from our first eight games, rather than the two that Ramos amassed)

There's also the suspicion that if Liverpool were the ones playing catchup the story would've been "Can Liverpool overcome Leicester?" - the obvious example is how the media were pro-Newcastle for a large chunk of the 1995/6 season, but once Man Utd started to close the gap the narrative reverted to "Ia! Ia! United fhtagn!"

Adrian Durham on TalkShite today has been an absolute twat! He has called us "a disgrace" for our match last night against Chelsea, as though Chelsea has nothing whatsoever to do with it, let alone the appalling lack of control exerted by the ref from the very start.

Just posted my predictions and saw this thread thought I would add my two penneth......Although most of its been said before. As a fan of a small team I am pleased for Leicester (don't get me wrong they dwarf the Gills), but I have also always had alot of time for Spurs and their supporters, and I am delighted to see you challenging for the biggest prize in English football. In my opinion from Sept onwards you have played some great football, a joy behold at times.

In Pochettino you seem to have found a manager who could keep you among the powerhouses in England. Kane, Alli and Alderweireld rightly get much praise, but for me the emergence of Dier as an enforcer has been key, add to that the consistency of Rose, Lamela, Dembele and Eriksen all of whom have gone missing more frequently before and the future looks very good, please win at least one more match and finish 2nd. And if you can spare a few good wishes, give a thought to the Gills on Sunday as we try to beat Millwall and hope 2 other results go our way.

totally agree with that HP. the Leicester scenario also let the chavs off media raping this year too dont forget :D

Congrats to you spuds for a great season, as much as i take the piss, i genuinely admire what poch has built so far at the lane as i think most do even if they wont admit it.

you have a lot to be proud of this year and good times to look forward to.

its gonna be very interesting next year in the prem, Guardiola with city, you with an already strong young team with some possible additions, chavs with a new manager, utd with moureen and a blank cheque book, klopps first full season with some signings, goons (well yaknow)

very exciting

Oh, Sucky!...you do care after all....<smooch>

I might even support you tonight now!...

4th cannot qualify if both the CL/EL winners are from the PL and neither of them finish in the top 4.
So that means we are not on your side tonight. :)

why not? dont you want us winning another european trophy <laugh>

Soldado has only scored 5 goals all season as far as I know

So sad how he completely lost his mojo at us.
He's playing a deeper role at Villarreal, though. It's still not the best return, but they don't score that many goals as a whole.

Congratulations on a good season Spurs. There's been some banter bordering on tension between fans due to how much it meant to both sides. As per the above comments, everyone would have been supporting you if it was against anyone else and you'll no doubt be back. Still refreshing to see both Leicester and Spurs top 2, shaking up the normal top few

I really appreciate the comments made on this thread. The great majority of the fans of other teams who come on this board add something, I think. I also like to think we’ve all built something that’s a bit special. There are a lot of posts that teach me something, a lot that make me laugh, and a good spirit that runs through the place. I’m not much of a joiner, but I feel lucky to have joined this group.

Also, in case I haven’t said so before, congratulations on fluking the title, you lucky bastards.

I'd also like to offer further condolences that Liverpool FC have reached yet another european final and our 2nd final this season. my thoughts are with you all at this hard time :(

It’s very kind of you to spare a moment for us in our hour of need, SMK.

Funnily enough he didn't put this point of view to Hugo when Hugo was on the next day.
