Chelsea provoked Spurs by scoring 2 goals. Spurs having been provoked are fully justified in their actions to kick stamp and blind Chelsea players. Spurs fans keep trying to justify their teams actions as manning up or that Spurs are now a hardman team. if anything their reaction just shows how easy they will be to wind up next year and it will be exploited by some.
It's like violence within the confines of dangerous tackles and heading are looked upon as natural transgressions within the game, but biting and eye-gouging go beyond the realms of the usual remit of punishments.
I can completely understand that, but where do endless elbows come into it and why is one gouge worth an extra ban but the other nothing?
There's been double standards for years in the game though, Defoe bit Mascherano and got a yellow, Suarez bit ivanovich and got an 8 match ban. Yeah there's been others too.
A lot of it is down to managers and players that just can't be arsed complaint to the ref or FA. LVG was like a lunatic over he hair pull but the worse incident of the elbowing didn't seem to phase Ranieri at all.
Suarez bit Bakkal, Ivanovic and Chiellini, mixing in a bit of racial abuse in the middle, to be fair! He was also never dismissed in a Liverpool shirt, which is absolutely ridiculous.
Because players are much smarter at flinging elbows. When someone elbows someone its a straight red if they stare at the opponent first and assumed to be pre-meditated. When elbows are flung without looking at your opponent and contesting a high ball, its generally accepted that theres a high possibility that the arms have been used to lever yourself to jump, a natural football action. The other type of elbow is when you have someone like feilleini (who for me does it on purpose) who is much taller than half the other players and if a player is stooping or much shorter than by sticking his arm out to shield, they may inadvertantly be shoving their arm/hand/elbow into someones face
Ranieri could hardly complain about Huth getting elbowed, could he. That'd be like moaning about Jack the Ripper getting stabbed.
As you say though, it's often the same players doing it all the time and/or really obvious incidents of deliberate elbowing. Fellaini's probably the worst, but we've seen the likes of Gerrard and Rooney avoid punishment even after footage is watched. The double-standard is just blatant.
I've seen loads of pics of the various incidents at Stamford Bridge the other night. There's one common denominator in the Centre of all of them. That twat, Costa! As always, he's at the heart of anything that kicks off involving Chelsea, yet time and time again he gets away with it. ****ing unbelievable!
I played Rugby for 20 years or so, and I have been eye gouged. No, it's not nice. If Dembele is found guilty, he will have to pay the penalty. I'd still be very interested to hear Dembele's version of what happened. I don't need to hear what that twat, Costa, has to say. It would all be bollocks anyway.,
It's clearly an illusion, as Costa tries to suggest that his other eye is hurt. Dembele was only trying to remind him of his old manager, anyway: please log in to view this image Two game ban, which was subsequently lifted. Precedent.
maybe you should sell dembele to wasps then? he should get a minimum 5 game ban for that tbh, i dont care either way tbh im just ere wiv me popcorn i dont think its anything that bad either i really dont and tbh if hed flattened costa id be chuffed for him as it wouldve been deserved, again im just enjoying the popcorn
