i don't think its about spending next to nothing its about getting value for money.
Personally i don't care how much new players cost so long as whoever comes in is an improvement on what we have or have to replace.
Agree that our scouts have been shocking, maybe with Sam he will be a step in the right direction when buying new players.

Agree with every word! Shelvey is ****ing useless - he's not as good as Cattermole and surely we'd want to improve our side.

On his day Wijnaldum is a great player - Mitrovic looked awful first half of the season and he's looking better now as an impact player rather than a starter - he's also a dirty bastard and would no doubt get sent off loads.

I'd have Ayew from Villa and that's it basically. There's a ginger lad playing for the mags who was called "ginger Pirlo" and is almost an England international - would nobody fancy him? beeskit is the second part of his surname I think?
no mate, he left for a bigger club, he wouldn't come to a poor little club like Sunderland.

If you stay up, the stark reality is, instead of looking at what Leicester have just achieved by spending next to nothing, half of the posters on here will start waffling on that what you sign is all **** and Ellis Short is being a tight bastard and not digging deep into his pockets.

Your scouts have been terrible for far too long, maybe Allardyce will have an idea of how to build a better side than your scouts have done, using a smaller budget. Spending big money doesn't guarantee you good players, your biggest signing last summer was Lens and he's ****, then Borini, who's also ****. Your best players have been a loan signing and a bloke you paid peanuts for.
Sorry tel but Lens is CAPABLE - there's being ****e and being capable and not being applied enough - undoubted quality player but typical Dutch attitude - no good in a team where we are.

Borini is a decent enough player too but you won't give him credit - maybe his Liverpool connections? Bit of a pansy undoubtedly but he's hard working with vision and ability to pass (that cross for Defoe against Norwich was perfect - had a 1 foot gap to hit to get the ball to him and hit it perfectly - you said Drinkwater's pass to Vardy was a world class ball - he had 30 square yards to hit and he overhit it (keeper should've easily had it aqs it was certainly into the box before Vardy caught it) - Borini had one square foot. That's not a **** footballer mate. He's obviously not a top level player like Kirchhoff would be if he wasn't injury prone but he's a solid mid table player (which is next level for us)

And Defoe is also pretty good too!

(All about opinions though)

Haven't you been slating Defoe all season?

Like you say, opinions mate, I think Lens is ****... no doubt he has some talent but so did Adel Taraabt and he's ****.

Borini you're probably right, I'll never like him.

The point I was trying to make before you hooked onto the part that didn't really matter as it's just my opinion, is that your best players in terms of value won't please a lot of the nay-sayers on here, loans and £500k's people will start spitting their dummies out unless you sign marquee players, your last marquee players, Lens and Borini well their impact has been minimal this season.

I made a prediction months back, your players will tip up with 6 games left and start to play, all their ****ty performances will be forgiven and Short will fist pump the fans from the stands and he'll be a hero again until the summer signings start... hopefully if you stay up, Allardyce will put an end to that farce.

If we sign players like Kirchhoff and M'Vila for an outlay of less than 5m I'll be happy - but I always judge on a player rather than a price! If we sign a Kirchhoff level player without the injury concerns for £15m then you have to say he'd be a great signing! If we sign players around the £4-5m mark and they turn out to be world beaters then great - but you're right - some won;t be happy unless we're competing for Messi esque players!

As for Defoe - he's crap. Always has been... :)

I know what you're saying, and this annual cycle simply has to stop. IF we stay up and IF Sam stays, I feel a little more confident out recruitment and preparation for next season will at least be better than it has been over the last few seasons

Hopefully, for you guys mate. The fact is, supporting a team will come with it's highs and it's lows, but when it's a cycle of lows and your highs are scraping survival, something has to change and hopefully your owner has identified that now by letting SA make his own decisions.

I dread to think how much money has been wasted by stupid DoF's at all of these English clubs, hiring and firing managers, paying agents, buying **** players, paying agents for **** players... Our chief exec is that **** he ended up paying £27m for Fellaini who had a £25m release clause in his contract... <doh>

Tel, is it just our page you visit or do you contribute to other clubs forums.

If it is just us, why?

Have you got some mates or connections up here.

You seem to spend a lot of time with us (good) and I'm just wondering why that is.

You, Comm and Billy seem to be the most regular posters on here.

It was the loan players and the United connections that sort of made me come over in the first place, since then I've just got on well with a lot of people.

They've all left and I just hang around to make Relic miserable now. <ok>

Bloody hell, one draw against Arsenal and suddenly we're apparently miles ahead of our relegation rivals <laugh>

From the two clubs mentioned, I'd take:

Villa - Traore, Gueye, Grealish, Amavi
Mags - Wijnaldum, Townsend, Perez, Mitrovic, Shelvey, Aarons, Janmaat

Obviously wouldn't want us to go out and sign every single one of them, but if we got maybe two or three from that lot I wouldn't be disappointed, they could all do a job for us in one way or another imo.

Who out of the SAFC team would you drop to put any of the Mags players in? I'm struggling to drop any of our 11 for one of theirs.
A couple of decent squad players but nowt exceptional.

I have been very impressed with BSA's signings: Kone, Khazri, Kirchoff have all been really good and N'Doye has done a job. If he can sign another 3 as goog as them and get rid of a few we will be ok.

Sam works closely with Mark Mckay, the agent. He's brought some big players to this league, including Payet... He sorted a deal out for West Ham to sign Kante but they opted for Song instead.

Not sure if there's a database of his players anywhere but I reckon you'll be signing one of them (Ayew?) in the summer unless you go down.

Townsend - better than Borini imo.

Wijnaldum - hit and miss but he's streets ahead of any of our central players going forward. In a midfield three with MVila and Kirchhoff, I'd choose him over Catts every day of the week.

Shelvey - see Wijnaldum but to a lesser extent. Still better than Catts going forward, but I'd hope we would sign someone better than both in the summer. Not bad as a benchwarmer though.

Perez - wouldn't be a first teamer for me straight away but I think he has potential to be very decent. Also, as of summer our only out-and-out striker will be Defoe, who's getting on a bit and likely won't be able to play 90 mins week-in-week-out for the whole season. I'd envisage Perez slowly being brought into the team in his place.

Mitrovic - again probably wouldn't start him ahead of Defoe at first but he is very young and could be a real weapon once he's had time to adapt to the league. He also offers something a bit different to Defoe and is miles ahead of N'Doye imo.

Janmaat - Way better than Jones who will officially be our first choice RB come summer <yikes> <yikes> <yikes>. Very good going forward, but questionable at the back. I'd like to think Big Sam could sort that out and make him a decent all-rounder.

Aarons - again, I'd have him for potential, not a first-team player straight away. Looks like he could be very decent in a couple of years though.

I think you are mad, I would maybe at a push have Townsend, but I think Khazri will turn out to have been a much better option. Mitrovic looks like he has potential too but as for the likes of Shelvey..... give me a break I would much rather have Cattermole.

Townsend. canny player but temperamental. Borini gives he's all
Wij. Can see your point in an attacking midfield role ahead of Mvila and Kirch but cannot even get a start for Newcastle at the minute. According to Newcastle lads I know he goes missing in games if things not going his way. Catts 100% commitment every time.
Shelvey. Thought he would be a very good signing. Once again moody if things going wrong.
Perez, deffo potential
Mitrovic as above
Janmaat. Possibly but another moody sort who goes missing.
Aarons = no.
