That's not insecure that's realism and balanced opinion. Your lot could learn a thing from us (as always). Delusion is the biggest sign of insecurity
Got to disagree there - Villarreal are a superior side and going well in Europe this season. They've won every home game and I simply can't see them letting you off the hook like Dortmund did in Germany in the last round, particularly without Origi. And even if you get past them, Sevilla have all the experience of the Europa league final - how many of your squad have actually played a European final ever? Although if Klopp uses fringe players in the league like you say, I do agree with your last statement - you could potentially end up with a total meltdown and out of Europe altogether next season, given that the FA Cup Europa place won't be available for a league finish.
No. In no situation will the 5th place team ever get into the CL. We only get a bonus place if one of the winners of the CL or EL doesn't qualify through the league.
So you think we've got more chance of finishing top 4 than winning the EL? That's us ****ed on both fronts then #meltdownalert
City gets in the CL because they win the CL not because they finish 5th. They could finish last and still get into the CL. ******
Is English your second language, Fist boy? Read the statement again - "No. In no situation will the 5th place team ever get into the CL." No wonder you stated that Jammyjism would be a greater player than Gerrard, and you could be quoted on that.
Put it this way, which set of teams do you think Liverpool stands a better chance of beating if they focus their efforts on them? Newcastle, Swansea, Watford, Chelsea and West Brom Villareal and Sevilla Other than the number of games you have to win, the top group is massively easier, with the only potential banana skins being at home. True, poor phrasing on my part. Should have said in no situation will 5th place be sufficient to qualify for the CL. Are you RHC in disguise?
Tbh if I was a betting man I'd rather take that double than a 5 win accumulator. Everyone is saying Villareal and Sevilla are better etc etc etc. It's all bollocks. You can bet that every team left wanted to avoid Liverpool in the draw. I don't watch that much La Liga, because it tends to bore me. Do you watch enough to say that those teams are for certain harder than playing Chelsea (for example)? Some people do tend to talk as though they watch La Liga as much as they do the PL. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but do you really follow it that much?
Haven't watched much La Liga, but have watched a fair bit of the EL, and Villarreal and Sevilla have been very impressive there. Both have looked better than Liverpool in the knock out rounds imo, although that has only been six games. And definitely better than Chelsea, who imo have been all over the place in the league after the Hiddink honeymoon wore off. I do take your point about the five win accumulator - from a percentage point of view it's easier to beat two teams than five. But ultimately I'd rank Liverpool as being better than all five of the English teams they have to face, whilst being worse than Villarreal and probably on a par with Sevilla, but with much less European experience. Also I think the two Spanish sides will be quite happy with the draw - having seen how open you were against Dortmund in both games I think they would have first and foremost wanted to avoid each other. Although obviously Sevilla will be a lot happier with Shakhtar than Villarreal are with you.
Plus you have to take into account that other teams would have to really mess up to let us squeeze into the top 4. Like I said we'll have to win the EL to get CL football next season, that's surely our only hope. But even me saying that at this stage of the season is a small miracle as we looked very much down and out at Christmas. We're playing well, scoring goals (14 in 10 days) and I don't think our players are scared of either of the Spanish teams. It's **** or bust. Either way, I'll be happy about how Klopp's transition is taking shape. The summer will be interesting at Liverpool... You never know but next year might be *** **** (fill in the blanks )
This is true. Think I got a bit confused with you guys finishing above us and getting into the top four! I think you could get 5th easier than winning the EL, but then ultimately you might as well go all in for the CL. Makes it more likely you will utterly **** up and end the season with nothing
