Spot on. It wasn't long ago that Skrtel was our best and most consistent performer. I think he only missed about 2 games over 2 whole seasons. He should leave with his held held high and respect from fans. Without question.

Lucas came in as a young lad, didn't speak the language, played a new position and was a scapegoat for about 3 years. He got his head down and grafted hard and at one stage became an excellent DM for us. People forget all the hard work these players have put in and to just want to see the back of them is pathetic.

Both these players have given their all for Liverpool. Fair enough they haven't had an amazing amount of success, but that's not their fault. They both worked their arses off for Liverpool and gave 100%.

Any fan that can't wait for them to leave needs to seriously look at what they're trying to support. For me when they do leave, they should be remembered for being 2 players that gave everything for a City they had no connection to. Lucas and Skrtel will leave as Scousers. They actually sum up what is good about professional's. Hard work, honesty and passion.

Yeah, you can't accuse either of not trying their absolute best at all times. Same as other guys like kuyt and so forth and so on. Craig johnston back in my day.

excellent way to put is on what a professional should be. comparing that to what stelring was about... or say what berahino has done at west brom shows why rafa bought them.

You can be a top pro and get on with it and play your 100% every game and still want to leave a club like say reina and even torres once the offer came in but having seen guys like badontelly and sterling act like they want to actively ruin games means guys who do try should be given respect in my view... but then the fall over the ball its no less annoying either.

I can't remember a time when Skrtel has ever been our best? If he was, was probably only because everyone else was having a mare. He had 1 half decent season and City wanted him for 20m after that he's been average ever since, with most of his issues covered by the fact he scored a few goals.

Its time he moved on not only for us but himself. He's not been the worse defender in the world and made some important contributions but he can and should be improved on.

Both players played far too much football for this club - yes, thank you for being loyal, professional and giving your all.

Unfortunately, they're just not good enough and never have been.

    Klopp has raised our standards.

Treat a player with the respect he showed the club. That doesn't mean keep them instead of bringing in improvements.

I yell and shout at skrts during a Match like any other player ****ing up but he's done nothing to let the club down so if the club can let him go and do something to help him move great. Same with Lucas, although I think he still has a role until a definite alternative is signed.

If they want to see out their contracts despite being told they will not play then fair enough...the club signed a contract with the expectation they'd play the entire length of it..if a new manager comes in and says different then tough on the club. I'll not slate a player who tried their best whatever the level their best was, who wants to continue to enjoy the rewards of previous performance by seeing out the contract.

Hope not to be proven wrong, but these two don't come across as Enrique's! Stay and see out the contract types..
I think they want to play week in week out and both would be able to do so elsewhere, maybe at a reduced wage..

he was though cos our team was god awful.

carragher with respect had no legs and skertl played LCB which didn't suit him. we'd kyriakos.

I think it comes down to moeny i nthe end when the time to move comes. hopefully he could get easily the same off most prem clubs now.

Aye, Turkey, a few teams in Italy, maybe mid table team in Spain, he won't be short of offers..
Skrtel too wouldn't be short of offer's, esp. if he has a decent Euro's!
They won't stay if their 5/6th Choice players in their respective positions.

nor should they as the lucky few who get the short time in thier life to earn money playing football.

plus flying about more countries can expose them to other coaching and if they seek a career later in football they may benefit from it.

Should be a nice £200k a week off our wage bill. Plus £70k for Enrique.

We still need to keep things tight l and not waste resources - forgot, another £200k a week saved by selling Mario and Benteke.

Half a million a week in savings on players we hardly rely on.

Maybe Rafa could snap them up at Newcastle. Skrtel althoigh pants would improve their defence and Lucas is an improvement on Tiote (although I'd want Lucas to stay with us)

Lucas keeps trying to re-invent himself, but this c/b thing is stretching it too much - he basically ran under the ball yesterday to try and out manoeuvre a bigger opponent in the build-up to their goal.

Every big, ugly cf has got Skrtel's number now. He was fantastic two years ago in the failed title run-in (Though it did infuriate me that Sakho seemed to get all the blame for Crystanbul when Skrtel disappeared more so).

Allen has responded magnificently to winning over a new manager. Lucas has tried to show versatility and willingness. Skrtel has been trampled over like that ostrich in Bedknobs and Broomsticks when faced with physical forwards. But just one word of caution - Lovren is everybodys' favourite now - good for him. Even a month ago he seemed a ****. And there is that nagging doubt when the poor darling had to be taken off against Soton because the crowd were allegedly upsetting him. Might be an idea to give Skrtel one more season, on a special contract, IF HE WANTS ONE. Just as bridging thing, as such, as the novelty of playing Lucas at c/b can't last forever.

Lovern may have needed a more understanding manager..
A manager that actually knew how to organise a defence (which given Rodgers failings wasn't going to be too hard!)
With the likes of Matip on the way, Lovern, Sakho know that they need to step up!
With have Big Joe Gomez to come back, who everyone seems to rate (me too) and his favoured position is CB..
Thats 4 CBs, if we get another in, Skrtel is as good as gone..
Also, doubt he'd agree to a new 1 year modified deal when he signed a new long term contract last year..
Kolo's deal runs out and is unlikely to be re-newed, Skrtel will follow him out..
If we get a few midfielders in then Lucas could be out, Benteke may want to stay but a decent offer and he's off, Badontelly is def. off as is Enrique
That's one hell of a reduction in the wage bill..
Also, call it at the time, think Flanno is off to, just get the feeling that Klopp doesn't rate him, only reason he signed a new long term contract was to ensure we get some money for him in the summer..
I don't believe Klopp is sentimental, if he believes you're not able to get us where we/he wants to go and more importantly keep us there if/when we get there, you'll be gone!

Yeah, you're probably right on the Skrtel contract thing. I'd just put a gun to his head (metaphorically!) and say take it or leave it if you want to stay.
