Anyone else interesred in this,or having a flutter on it? Ronnie's all the rage as usual, and he looks to have the best of the draw. But for me,i'm having a couple of hefty bets on Robertson at 6's,and Trump at 7's.I really feel that this could be Trump's time,he looks primed for glory and his safety game has improved dramatically.I think Robertson just oozes class, when he's in form even the Rocket struggles to cope with him.Trump and Robbo are set to clash in the quarters however, but I strongly fancy the winner to go onto outright glory ! Just as a footnote,it's great to see Ali Carter back at the Crucible. After all his troubles, lifelong Croens disease, followed by 2 bouts of cancer, this guy deserves all the credit in the world. If he should lift the title in 2 weeks time, the roof will come off the old building, and you'll hear me sobbing from here! Good luck to all.

Love the Snooker HJ. The World's are a special 2 weeks aren't they...to keep focus over the distance and watch the best battle it out is great to see. Ronnie, much like Woods in golf, makes the book for a bet in the event too, great to see how he goes and if he's in a "good place" with his game. Robertson is usually a solid option, himself and Selby are probably the best match players around over the longer frames and I'd be leaning towards Robbo myself currently.

Trump definitely needs to push on and win the World now, he's been the distance, has the game and now needs to go add the big one to his haul. A great chance if he's on it. Very well said about Ali Carter too <ok> what an emotional win his would be...hopefully he doesn't bump into his old foe Ronnie in the final and he has a chance <laugh>

I've no bets done yet, but will post here any that I do <ok>.

    Good thread :)

Carter's got Bingham 1sr round, that will difficult for starters ! Some cracking 1st round matches,Trump's gotta play Liang Wenbo, who on his day can pot sicker balls than Ronnie, and the winner of that will probably play Ding, who had to qualify! Don't think I've looked forward to a world's like this for years !

He's got the best of the draw without doubt, but I just don't like the guy. He's been off his game this season, but if he rediscovers it,then he'll be a threat to everyone!

Wenbo is very excitable, if he can control his nerves he could push the Juddernaut close alright but I'd still take Trump to win. Bingham is in and out, struggling a lot since becoming WC, I reckon he will get knocked out early this year and Carter could be the man...odds against too.

Ronnie has been found out the last couple of years in the world championships, I just don't think this long format favours him at his age now. The short format he can play his best, but I think he struggles to keep focus in these marathon matches. Selby really ground him down 2 years ago, and Bingham beat him easy in the end last year winning like 6 frames on the bounce at the business end of the match.

I think Neil Robertson is probably the man to beat, as I think he's been the most consistent all season. The likes of Trump on his day is very good, but he's not as consistent as Robertson so I'd favour backing Robertson.

Pretty much all my racing predictions have come true lately, hence why I won the Cheltenham comp.

I don't fancy Ronnie over the long format these days, especially not at a favourites price.

    Sorry Shergs, should have done this before I know but;

having done a verification of the scores, your final balance was £13,324.24 not £15,324.24, as published

With Gazman scoring £13,962.50 that does mean, unfortunately, that you were 2nd.

Still a very good score though

Carter really let Bingham off this afternoon, should've been 6-1 up and now only leads 5-4 going into tonight.I fear he might rue that missed green!

The Captain has let that 10th frame slip when looking in control...nip and tuck now, hard to call the winner still.

Fu cruises through! Ebdon destroyed by Fu who apparently was excellent throughout. Potential dark horse is Fu. He gets too negative for me when push comes to shove though and I think is partly why he hasn't won near as much as he could.

Ron, maybe you are going senile in your old age <laugh>

You're preaching to a life long bookie here, I know what my score was. And it was better than everyone else's.

It is no coincidence that I'm always at the top or near the top of the comps I enter, as I know my stuff. People can run me down all they like, but il continue to pick winners, and they'll continue to pick losers. Then argue with me after why there loser was so unlucky <laugh>

Will be back on here when Don Cossack absolutely thumps Cue Card at Punchestown. Cannot wait for that <laugh> The excuses for Cue Card will be even funnier <laugh>

I can't speak for anyone else but personally I don't doubt your tipping ability Shergs. As I've said before I'm firmly in the Cue Card camp but I've admitted I thought Don Cossack would have still won the Gold Cup had Cue Card not fallen. I think he'd have been out stayed up the hill. I also think Don Cossack had the beating of him in the King George had he not fallen but I'll still be on Cue Card again at Punchestown and there'll be no excuses coming from me whatever the result. But what IF Don Cossack isn't the great beast you've painted him as and shock horror he gets beaten at Punchestown will you be gracious in defeat
