Those criticising Selby's style, clearly don't watch enough snooker. He's not Ronnie O'Sullivan but when he's playing well he knocks in loads of centuries, he's as heavy a scorer as Ding on his day. You don't spend as many weeks as he has throughout his career at world number 1 if you don't score heavily. Admittedly his scoring wasn't up to his own high standards this week, but luckily for him his safety play is probably the best around. It's the mark of a champion being able to still win whilst off you're A game. I may not share the same opinion as everyone, but I actually find the tactical battles quite interesting. There is more to snooker than just potting balls.
Congrats to Selby, managed to pull it off while not at his best for the entire tournament. His fortitude and will can never be bought into question, shame for Ding though, would have been monstrous globally for snooker if he'd have pulled it off,but you can't give a guy like Selby a 6 frame start!
Dunno about that Ron. Speaking of a bloke's prowess with the cue, the highlight of my "career" came many moons ago when my brother and I were playing doubles for pots one Saturday arvo at the Capalaba pub. We held the table for about an hour and a half. I staggered out of the place feeling like a poor man's Eddie Charlton.
I don't know how they can concentrate for so long. I rarely get to play but after 2 or 3 hours my head aches. Might be something to do with my bi-focals. They're on an off more than Jordan's knickers.
John Higgins has received the player of the year award and deservedly so, had a resurgence of what looked his old form early in the season, winning a couple of titles. Mark Selby won the Writers' POTY and performance of the season. Until next season, bye bye
