Big time win by Joshua. I thought he wouldn't be up to the job just yet, but was well astray. He was far too good. Congrats to the man and all who supported him.
The Joshua doubters can't argue with that, he smashed through a world champion in a couple of rounds. Tyson Fury will get absolutely whooped if the fight happens, as will David Haye. Neither will be able to handle his power.
Is the Fury - Klitschko 11 fight on July 9? If so then it might actually clash with Joshua's first defence of his title. I've just read that Hearne has mentioned that date too. Surely he doesn't mean it? Imagine having both bouts in the UK on the same night, it would be a real fiasco.
Cyc, it's all about TV and promoting a future bout between the two. Firstly- Fury v Klitschko is going to be on Box Nation, not Sky. Remember Fury is promoted by Mick Hennessey. Hearn wants to undermine box nation and set an alternative card that proves his promotions are better and also it's the chance to pit the two British champs together on one night and put them on collision course for late 2016/or a 2017 fight. It's a bit like the HBO v Showtime battle in the US, but with less drama! I'm sure they won't fight at exactly the same time.
Lee McGregor fighting for Scotland in Belgrade through to tournament final after knocking out the German Champion in the first round in the semi.....
The very reason Frampton Quigg rematch was a non runner from the start imo. Can't see Frampton being fav for this one? Always harder than people think stepping up a division. Very, very tough fight.
Lee wins Gold for Scotland in Serbia defeating the Italian Champion in the final. Destined for the very top he is unstoppable at present.
You must let us know when we can see him on TV. Sounds a very exciting prospect. Thanks for keeping us updated
Need to watch some youtubes of Santa Cruz before I make up my mind. Gut feeling to me is that Frampton will be fine and if anything stronger at the weight, but he has to contend with bigger punchers too. But I need to look at styles before I feel like I can pick a winner. On a side note- Golovkin Who does he fight next? Imagine if Khan beats Canelo They could have a middleweight unification LOL.
Lee will fight for the British title in Dunfermline on Sat 28th May i will be there....if you follow Lee McGregor on instagram you will see his TKO....
Finally got around to watching James De Gale's fight from Saturday. He got a unanimous decision and quite rightly so in my opinion, he looked a class above but seemed to step off the gas a lot to let Modina in more often than he should have. I mentioned on a different thread that there was some chatter on web about it being a draw and before watching it I was thinking there was another scoring controversy. But now after seeing it for myself I think the result was more than fair and De Gale will be disappointed knowing he should have probably put that guy away. Still looks class and best super middleweight in the world at the moment. He'll wipe the floor with Badou Jack should there be a unification fight
I'm not too sure that there'll be too much floor wiping going on Smoke. Degale probably will be the busier as he likes to let his hands go, but Jack in the past has been the same kind of fighter. Under the guidance of the former 175 pound champ Eddie Mustafa though, Jack has dropped his punch count per round to concentrate on power hits. According to CompuBox (not really proof of anything) Jack landed 61% of his power shots. Muhammad was into him between rounds to bend his knees and to set himself. His body work was pretty impressive. Bute was visibly flinching at times. This was only the second defence of the belt he took from Anthony Dirrell. As DeGale was also only making his second defence, I think both men are still a work in process. I don't think either of these two champions have yet proven themselves to be in the same class as the likes of Carl Froch or Bernard Hopkins. But you never know what the future holds. I have to disagree a little when it comes to the DeGale - Jack fight Smoke. Personally, I don't think there is too much between them.
Fair enough mate, I really don't rate Jack though. I think Callum Smith would have an easy night with him if he gets the fight. I think James De Gale's problem is he finds things a little too easy at times and loses concentration. I'm a massive Carl Froch fan as I've mentioned before on here but I think he knew De Gale would have given him problems had he fought him and that's why he retired before there was too much demand for the fight
There's a thought that Canelo's rehydration will boost his weight by almost a stone when he fights Amir Khan on Saturday. Looks like Khan will need all the speed he can muster. I just read that when Roman Gonzalez climbed from 112 to 126 for his win over McWilliams Arroyo. So I think for all his faith in himself, Khan is in for a world of pain. But good luck to the man.
There is no way that Khan can win this fight on anything that he has ever shown in the past. But as we know in boxing nothing is impossible. I just hope Canelo absolutely destroys him, i really cannot stand the **** and if Khan somehow manages to win on saturday i don't think i can bring myself to watch boxing ever again!
Never quite sure why Amir Khan is so widely disliked by the British boxing public. Mightn't be everyones cup of tea but I think he's a decent kid and good luck to him against the little beast Canelo, he'll likely need it to avoid getting put to sleep! The whole size, weight division difference obviously is a worry, Khan clearly naturally is the lighter man but I think it mightn't be as problematic as most of us think. The vibes seem to be Khan has been pretty devastating in training and has bulked up in the right areas. Khans chin gets plenty of stick but I think it's actually his brain is his downfall. If he gets involved in a dust up with Canelo it'll be a short fight. I think if he can keep moving around plenty, come in and out at the right moments, it could be a cracker of a fight.
