@InBiscanWeTrust I'm not sure if I'm missing the point of the hidden votes (I probably am), but I'm concerned that it's going to end up like a typical Day 1 mafia game throughout the 5 days.
Day 1 is always a rather random day where guys throw their votes around as there is no information available to base your lynch vote on. As we mentioned it then sometimes becomes a revenge session for previous games because there is just a lack of useful information available.
From day 2 it gets better because there are the previous days' lynch votes to analyse (especially late movements) and the actions from the night before.
My concern is that if the bulk of the votes are hidden, we lose access to the majority of the info that we usually base our opinions on. If this is the case it will be much more like the typical day 1 play. The actions only tell us limited info, and it's easy to falsely accuse people (Tobes died so it must have been gerrez etc.).
In my opinion this will benefit Mafia greatly as they don't have to work anything out to win, they just need to avoid being suspected. The one way to counter this is to give town strong roles like investigations, but this is not a good solution imo as it just becomes an action shootout every night and there will be very little analysis of comments on the thread or votes.
Hiding the votes is an interesting idea but I just think it takes away a huge portion of the game (trying to figure out who is who), imagine a vanilla townie in this game with no actions, he'll have very little to base his opinions on if he can't view people's votes. Anything written in the thread will be suspect as you could lie about who you voted for, and would not need to justify any of your votes...
I'm interested to hear other guys' thoughts as I might be missing the point entirely!
