AFC is missing too <ok>

Where's Obi? Is he still on the site?

Good shout on AFC.

I don't know, I've asked about Obi a few times on Toon board but no response. Tried searching for when he was last active but brb broke the search bar <grr>

I PM'd Nev but he didn't know. He said I'd be better off asking ACS but never got round to it.

Hope he's alright.

Yeah, not seen him in a while. Don't know if he takes long breaks or just been busy etc...

@InBiscanWeTrust I'm not sure if I'm missing the point of the hidden votes (I probably am), but I'm concerned that it's going to end up like a typical Day 1 mafia game throughout the 5 days.

Day 1 is always a rather random day where guys throw their votes around as there is no information available to base your lynch vote on. As we mentioned it then sometimes becomes a revenge session for previous games because there is just a lack of useful information available.

From day 2 it gets better because there are the previous days' lynch votes to analyse (especially late movements) and the actions from the night before.

My concern is that if the bulk of the votes are hidden, we lose access to the majority of the info that we usually base our opinions on. If this is the case it will be much more like the typical day 1 play. The actions only tell us limited info, and it's easy to falsely accuse people (Tobes died so it must have been gerrez etc.).

In my opinion this will benefit Mafia greatly as they don't have to work anything out to win, they just need to avoid being suspected. The one way to counter this is to give town strong roles like investigations, but this is not a good solution imo as it just becomes an action shootout every night and there will be very little analysis of comments on the thread or votes.

Hiding the votes is an interesting idea but I just think it takes away a huge portion of the game (trying to figure out who is who), imagine a vanilla townie in this game with no actions, he'll have very little to base his opinions on if he can't view people's votes. Anything written in the thread will be suspect as you could lie about who you voted for, and would not need to justify any of your votes...

I'm interested to hear other guys' thoughts as I might be missing the point entirely! <ok>

Fair point, I did think of re-jigging it so that the investigation results get posted to the journalist to then publish in the morning paper, either all of them or say 50% with the mayor picking the people he wants to chose.

This will give the town 50% of the votes to go on...

thoughts?

also, means they could be altered by journalist of they wanted to for some reason (recruited?) but the town may know etc...

I think what you said there might make sense.

Have the mayor and journo talk rather than add more town roles.. that gives mayor a route to talk to the board about votes and also allows mafia a hack as well.

Its all about balance. just run what ifs. If you want to pm any to me I can comment if you want. Equally you could send them to tennis or to milk... or mix all thrre

I think with no public vote there is still opportunity for people to directly question each other on roles.

what it does need is a few fearless town who are not afraid to answer questions in order to make others look suspect for not wanting to.

It also means not understanding something clearly day one in rules is not a crime. not knowing something day 3 that should be related to your claimed role (eg vanilla) is a bit of a tell.

Its up to all to be willing to talk... and it will be up to the town to make the mafia have a harder time hide.

If for example there are 6 mafia (i dunno number now) and 2 SK (i think this is right) that means 12 town (sounds a bit light) then there are 6 to 8 bad guys trying to hide so we will need 4/5 active town willing to first pony up themselves then be on thread not allowing a drop in and run post.

I think tactic one should be make a list of who dropped in and ran off without answering anything and then suggest a short list of lynchees from it

Might be terrible tactic but at least it a) creates something to do b) creates something a town or mafia can both step into to keep desired confusion going.

We cannot:

a) have tied vote
b) have late swings.
c) watch for timing of actions.

This does eliminate a lot of town tools and will mean they go into the hands of just one or two town roles... so the town will only win by virtue of those roles being played very well.

We need those town to be talking in the hour before nightfall. its too easy go quiet for fear of attracting a late vote. This is a game to take one for the team.

Just read the OP, or most of it

This is not DC based, it is the Arrowverse <ok>

Makes the VT getting their choices right in terms of location even more important as well.

Yeah I like the idea of the mayor and journo being on a team. Does put a lot of pressure on them though, if they don't log on or are killed/recruited then town stand very small chance of winning... <laugh>
