Coutinho - 1st XI starter Firmino - 1st XI starter Gotze (if and a BIG IF we sign him then..) - 1st XI starter Lallana - Squad player Dembele - This is the same chap that is getting interest from a few VERY big teams and those in CL, I doubt we'll get him! Ibe - Squad player if not loaned out! Ojo - Should make a push for first squad inclusion more often. Markovic - Will be given chance to prove he can cut it? Selling Benteke, so need a Striker to replace him. Need a quality midfielder, able to control matches, set pace of play, Can isn't there yet! IMHO, this is the key signing in helping Klopp's team do what he wants. A LB to challenge/replace Moreno, looks like it maybe that Hector chap.. GK to replace/challenge Mingolet Think there will be more out goings that incomings but hopefully the incomings are of quality this time! "Could" have a decent team next year "should" Klopp get his targets..
Tending to agree with you there, think all but Can in the midfield are safe.. Allen, Lucas and even Hendo could/will be sold.. Gruic is on the way in.. and did like the look of some the youngsters that played against West Ham, they'll be more than capable in replacing Allen and Lucas as squad players..
All be sold We can't sell everyone FFS My reasoning behind the one's I thought we'd keep is Can - fellow German, and German International. Certain he's one Klopp wants. Coutinho - Obvious. Only reason we'll sell is if a CL club puts in a massive offer. Firmino - Knows him from Germany and I'm sure he'll be in his plans. Lallana - Very much improved under Klopp, and has the energy to play Klopp's style. The rest? Meh.
I think the inconsistency can change, seen it happen from season to season. I remember thinking Skrtel should go, then he started playing more and bossed our defence when we finished 2nd a couple of years ago...now he is utter ****e. When Klopp brings in his own players, some will leave but the new influx will probably change the teams performance as a whole. Even Benteke could become a 20+ goal striker next season with a new found confidence...we don't know. Still would rather replace him on merit from this season though.
I'd agree with that. The 3 behind the striker would be potent, very tasty. You may think Gotze is a 'big if' - I'm not so sure. I'm quite optimistic that he'll come. Need to sort the defence out too, it'll take a couple of windows minimum tbh. You simply can't put a whole load of new players in at once. It's about building slowly and getting quality in rather than bulking out with ****e.
We still talking midfield only here? If so, I'd agree. I think Clyne, Sakho, Flanno and Origi are safe too. I wouldn't be willing to bet on anyone else staying.
Benteke with his recent outburst is as good as gone.. situation is close to being untenable.. Skrtel knows his time is over, he's fit and can't get in past the occasional bungling Sakho and with Loverns up turn in form, Matip's arrival as well as Gomez coming back, he'll be 5th/6th choice CB next year.. he's off to China! Bogdan, Wisdom, Ilori, Enrique GONE! Lucas, Allen and maybe Hendo GONE! Ibe out on Loan! Sturridge, if Klopp gets a BIG offer for him, he'll be gone, I'd like to keep him, get his confidence up! Think he likes Lallana and won't be a bad sqaud player but IF we get Gotze, can't see him starting too many games ahead of Coutinho, Firmino and Gotze! Like I said, loads going out, only a few coming in, all of real quality!
Sakho should be safe. But he may well be chucking that down the drain by playing so poorly. Such a shame as if he concentrated, he'd be an excellent CB. Flanno = Safe (geographically ) Clyne = Safe, good enough just. Origi = Safe, young, quick, plays off the shoulder. Good option to have. The rest? I really wouldn't want to guess.
Aye, a bit of nepotism He's safe and by all accounts one of the players he's looking is a partner for Can, which if the so called ITKs are to be believed, means Hendo's days are numbered? Assuming he wants to play a 4-2-3-1 formation.. could be safe if he wants to play 4-3-3 and play Firmino as the False nine if its to be believed he doesn't fancy Sturridge..
I like Flanno but he shouldn't be getting a mention/praise because he's local, lets be honest, he's no Carra and def. no Fowler, Owen and esp. Gerrard. I'd like a better backup to Clyne to be honest.. the cynic in me believes we only gave Flanno a longer contract so that we can get some money in should we look to sell him this Summer! Clyne, safe! Origi, def. safe! Lovern, Sakho, Gomez.. safe!
I don't mention him because he's local, I mention him because he deserves it. However, on the local (well, club trained) front, we need these players in the squad. European competition says we must have at least four self produced home grown talents in the squad.
I disagree with the last part to a certain extent. I think this summer Klopp can rip it up and throw in as many new boys as he wants. New keeper, two new centre backs (we did it with Hyypia and Henchoz), at least one proper centre mid and a new striker. I wouldn't advocate wholesale change often but I'd be happy if only 3 or 4 of this year's regular starters were starters next season. I think this is the window he has to get the base of the team right (defence and spine). The rest he can utilise the players we have (and pad the rest of it with youth). If he IS going to make wholesale changes to the squad he can't dribble that process out over two or three windows. He has to do it now. As for anyone saying Sakho is safe....you obviously couldn't here the things Klopp was shouting at him against the spuds His days are numbered if he puts in many more performances like that. Klopp just wont put up with his centre backs gifting the ball away like they do. Same goes for Hendo and Can in the middle of the park. Such brainlessness vil not be tolerated.
Wouldn't argue with that... but are we that many players short of a decent side? GK, LB, DM, AM, Striker.. OK.. that's nearly half a team
