TV money and FFP mean that we probably won't see dominance like United enjoyed ever again in the PL era. The question will be what happens if next season the burden of CL football results in you failing to defend your title, or perhaps narrowly missing out on the top 4. Who knows? The bottom line is that I'm afraid £80k in real terms is peanuts. If Kante and Mahrez have another season like this, you're talking wage offers in the region of £200k easily. Either way, best of luck for the rest of the season, and if I can speak on behalf of some of our regulars, I think that the vehement reaction on here has been fuelled by the gutting disappointment of the dawning reality that our own title bid is over. Your meteoric rise to success has been so rapid and unexpected that it's been easy to get carried away with it. We on the other hand raised our hopes to believe that we were witnessing the culmination of well over a decade of hard work, long term investment and learning painful lessons from big mistakes in the prospect of a first title in half a century. The film 'Everest' comes to mind; you've basically been air-lifted to the summit, whereas we have climbed the bloody thing from the very base to what we thought was the peak, but then after an arduous journey, we ran out of oxygen.
Fine, balanced post ... my own view is that if we do make CL both will stay .. the season after that, who knows? ... but we are highly progressive as a club and although I don't see a replica of this phenomenal season, I do think we will be very competitive, bolstered by some quality signings and the emergence of some excellent young prospects like Demarai Gray, Ben Chilwell, Joe Dodoo etc
