If it was so easy to find replacements Fergie would still be at Aberdeen(or maybe his replacement) and Sir Matt's and Best,Law and Charlton's replacement replacements would be at OT.:emoticon-0181-fubar

I am just pointing out that good players are out there, that's how the ones you know about come to light.
To say a team will never find a replacement for a player is wrong, to say it will be hard is true.

I agree. Just by virtue of time players go.

Just cos say Johan cruyff left ajax didn't mean they could never again be great.

Just cos law Charlton and best got old or drunk doesn't mean Utd didn't end up with ronaldo rooney and the like and win more than those guys ever did.

Just cos keegan and toshack were moved on doesn't mean lfc didn't replace with Dalglish and rush..

In fact the reality is when you get it really right and get the best guy in you clubs history they still just replaced someone.

    Players come and go..

    That's life.

Lfc will one day have a replacement for suarez who replaced torres who replaced morientes who replaced owen who replaced fowler who replaced said rush.

  4. Replacing a player and finding someone else are two different things.

If we're talking eternity then sure, we may eventually replace Suarez like for like. But in my lifetime? Unlikely. Even harder for a unfashionable club like Leicester (no disrespect intended)

However, my first comment was poor wording tbh. What I meant was...

It would be harder for Leicester to replace Mahrez than Vardy.

In your life time you've seen who play for lfc?

    35 no?

Your birthday threads had a use then.

You've seen rush at no 9. Barnes... Beardsley, mcmanaman, fowler, Owen, gerrard, torres... all playing up there in no 9 no 10 positions.

You would have not seen Dalglish would you.... but then you would have seen others cone and go.

    C'mon.. Suarez... ffs.

Let's be frank here what precisely did you see. Touched by madness and genius. One really top season forces preceeded by well biting, racism scandal and nothing that many goals.. shot early and often, dived then when it did work it all came together.

First off John Barnes was better, quicker and could dribble better.

Rush scored more and was more lethal.

    Torres was lightening

Beardsley with respect was by far a better player.

Suarez was the toughest hardest working of the lot mind and tried stuff but... well... not everything worked

I don't think any player is ever replaced "like for like", what happens is you get a player just as effective in the same position.

  16. Of course you can replace players like for like. You'll just struggle more if that player is one of the best around. For example, Tevez and Suarez were very similar. There isn't much difference between Hendo and Milner. Pretty sure Leicester could find another Huth too.

But yes, the aim would be to get at least as equally effective player. We've failed miserably at this.
