More fantasy football..

The Mirror suggest that among Arsene’s key targets this Summer are Everton’s John Stones, Southampton’s Victor Wanyama, Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos and PSG super-star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

According to the paper, this is how Wenger would love to see his team line-up next season:

--------------------Cech-----------------------
Bellerin--Stones--Koscielny--Monreal
---------Wanyama---Kroos----------------
---Welbeck-------Ozil--------Sanchez---
-----------------Ibrahimovic-----------------

I see silver in that team, lots of silver :emoticon-0100-smile

Word in Germany is that we're going to sign Granit Xhaka for £34m in the Summer. Have to be honest. I know next to nothing about the player, but the fee involved in crazy for a defensive-minded midfielder. Is he really good enough to justify spending a large chunk of money on or is it just out of desperation?

Has anyone seen him play?

I've watched him play for Switzerland where he plays a box to box role.Technically the guy is very sound.

He's basically a Xavi Alonso type. Lazer guided long range passing. Would be a good signing, probably seen as a replacement for Arteta but surely a striker should be the priority?

Is he under 6 ft ?

why can't we buy a tall midfielder?
Actually he's 6'1 and fairly robust. Not a typical Wenger midfielder. But he is technically more of ballplayer than a defensive mid. Torsten Fink describes him as Switzerlands 'most talented' player.

That's good............. who is Torsten Fink?

LOL. You do realise it's just as easy to google these questions?

Switzerland's National team manager.
Thank you............... I am not up to speed on the international scene, obviously. and yes, I could have googled it, but I was lazy.

So far we've been linked to at least 20 players from the bundesliga who are definitely signing!

Only 20 players so far? I was expecting closer to 50!

Well silly transfer speculation has already started predictably. I wonder how Wenger will approach this years transfer market. Does he think our current crop of players are good enough and only needs minimal reinforcement, or will he make significant changes. Somehow i think he'll follow his usual pattern of minimal additions.

Two areas i expect more urgency with is the CF and CM positions. We've struggled since Cazorla's absence and the backups have either failed or been long term sickies. This is a pivotal position in every Wenger formation. Also, has Giroud's return been good enough for his system? What about the backups?

Seems to be something in the Xhaka transfer. Arsenal scouts have been spotted watching him on multiple occasions lately.

I just REALLY hope we sign a top striker though. That's what we really need.

Just 20 Bundesliga players - must be at least a 100 from the other leagues!!! <laugh>

(apparently MVilla is looking for a move...)

If we don't sign a TOP striker I have to admit I am gonna flip out. History tells us Wenger probably won't either.

City have Guardiola.
Chelsea have Conte.
Liverpool have Klopp.
United may well sign Mourinho.

Spurs have a young team that should only get better.
Leceister will try and strengthen.

Where would he play? Can't play CAM as Ozil plays there. I really can't see Goetze as a centre mid. Which leaves him playing as wing forward... and he's not exactly a pacy player lets face it. He'd be another (exceptionally good) square peg for a round hole.

He'd cost £40m+ and we could use that money far more wisely than on another small attacking midfielder. We need a striker (Aubemeyang or Embolo), a pacy wing forward who's a goal threat (Reus), a dominating centre mid (Carvalho) and a top class centre back (Hummels, ha we can dream).

Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao is exactly this sort of player!!
