Are you completely unable to offer an alternative opinion without resorting to personal abuse? I would have thought with your self professed high standard of education that you could offer a lucid, well constructed response!

I'm not even sure why Dave has to position himself as moral spokesman on this board ?
You either like twee poetry or you don't.
Have you actually asked the other posters if they enjoy the poems or just decided by yourself that we all enjoy them ?
He stepped down from his moderation duties to concentrate on his early morning Weston supermare weather report broadcast on the Watford board and his moderation duties on Cypruss Sid's Sunderland forum so is just another poster on here.
You seem to have an agenda Dave saying you don't like someones poems is not a personal attack .

No need to let it go, I enjoy the freedom of giving my opinion without having certain tossers attacking me because as a moderator, I "should not have an opinion!"

RBS would not approve of this moronic comment David stop acting like a petulant little yob.

I certainly enjoy RBF's poetry and it is always relevant to the topic. If you don't like it, there's an easy solution - just 'block' him!!!! <doh>

Only if you want it to be .
I used RBS's own words 'moronic' & 'yob' & deflected them back onto your petulant post .
When RBS used those words they were not offensive because you like him, if i use the very same then all of a sudden they become personal.
Then you get to be the victim and cry foul.

I thought royalbarclayfan was being fair to be honest and gave a reasonable opinion. However I don't think there's any need to attack someone over their poetry because maybe he's saying something you don't like, I don't really read all of RBF poetry but I respect that he expresses his opinion in a lost art form and it's not being disruptive to the forums so it shouldn't even be an issue to bring up.

<sorry> My fault - shouldn´t have got involved - should have kept away, but it´s very easy to be wise after the event. Not going to try and make any excuses for what I said, but suffice to say that much of it was misínterpreted. The reference to yobs and morons, and to the use of swear words on here was NOT specifically aimed at SN, nor anyone else particularly here on the Norwich board, they were both just general observations of the climate we live in, but I ought to have guessed that they could easily be misinterpreted, and should have made it clearer. The only part of my contribution that was aimed specifically at SN, was the point he himself brought up, his fondness for the odd drop or two.

I´ll pm SN with a similar explanation, otherwise I have no further comment to make.

Unfortunately my verse, twee or otherwise, is the way I know best to converse - so if I stay, it stays I´m afraid.

No issues with that at all, the majority seem to like it and those who don't can simply avoid the thread.
Though I gather Mr Chaucer was partial to the occasional expletive? <whistle> ;)

No need RBF anything written on here should be consumed with a pinch of salt.
I was not offended in the slightest.

You were offended on RBF's behalf so these things level out and I doubt Cromer was offended rather just pointing out the hypocricy.
