Aubameyang would be my first choice, but I think he'll be hard to prize away from Dortmund. Failing that I'd go all out for Lukaku, he's bound to want to make the step up from Everton at some point and he'd walk straight into our team. I think we'd be looking at the best part of £40m to get him though. Ibra ? Yes definitely if he'll come, he'd only be a short term signing anyway and would probably cost us £150k+ per week, but if it was just on a two year contract then he'd be worth it.
The Sun reckons were in for Granit Xhaka in the summer, with Wenger confident he will sign after having spoken to his father. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/6524746/SunSports-daily-football-round-up.html
While we're at it, we should get Breel Embolo in now before Bayern, Barca, Real, City or Leicester move in for him. Will cost probably £30m minimum but surely worth the risk.
His name alone is worth a good £33 Million. A defensive midfielder named Granite? He has to be amazing!
Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a transfer target for Southampton 5 years after leaving Saints for Gunners What do you think lads, stick or twist? He has bags of talent but hasn't quite lived up to it. Do we sell him on this summer if we get good bids, bringing in someone else, or keep him and hope for that potential to translate into goals/assists?
This season was forgettable for the Ox and the pressure is certainly mounting and as Gooner4ever mentions, we have Iwobi coming through the ranks and looking good. It is disappointing that Ox hasn't quite kicked on. I was expecting a lot more from him this season.
Yeah the Ox is infuriating because he has the physical attributes to succeed. But this is guy who only seem to perform 3-4 games a Season. Time is certainly running out for the lad.
Your post could also sum up Theo. Time for him to move on too. I love Theo but we don't get value for money for his wages (nor Ox's) so sell on and use money for upgrade at striker and keep Giroud
The Star reckons us and Liverpool will be in for Mario Gotze this summer. He would be a great signing if we could get him. As much as I want to see Wilshere succeed I get the feeling he's going to be a sicknote his whole career. Gotze is already established at the very top level.
A very good idea and an area that we could do with strengthening with the departure of Rosicky and Arteta. Wilshere being a constant sick note is doing us no favours and getting Gotze in would make a huge improvement to our midfield.
Where would he play? Can't play CAM as Ozil plays there. I really can't see Goetze as a centre mid. Which leaves him playing as wing forward... and he's not exactly a pacy player lets face it. He'd be another (exceptionally good) square peg for a round hole. He'd cost £40m+ and we could use that money far more wisely than on another small attacking midfielder. We need a striker (Aubemeyang or Embolo), a pacy wing forward who's a goal threat (Reus), a dominating centre mid (Carvalho) and a top class centre back (Hummels, ha we can dream).
Gotze and Wilshere are two totally different players, one is an AM and another is a CM. If Gotze came here he would want to play in Ozil's position. If we are going to go after any German attackers, then it has to be either Reus or Gundogan. The later would be ideal, he is basically one of the best deep lying playmakers there is, and would give us what Cazorla gave in that posistion and more.
You both make some good points. How good is Gotze in ball retention? This is one area we need more cover in. I think the priority goes back to our need for a CF. But another DM and CB would be good.
Release/Sell: Arteta Flamini Rosicky Loan - Chamberlain Sanogo Debuchy Buy: Hummels (2nd choice Jon Stones) Goetze Wanyama Lukaku (2nd choice Aubamayang or Ibra) Home: -----------------------Cech---------------------- Bellerin--Hummels--Koscielny--Monreal -------------------Coquelin-------------------- -------Goetze------Ozil--------Carzorla---- ----------------------------Sanchez------------ ---------------Lukaku--------------------------- Wanyama to come in for added physicality in away matches. A little optimistic I will admit. Never going to add this much to the side but still this is what I would do
Also being linked to Jon Stones a lot. Have to say I am a big fan of the kid. Certainly will be an expensive signing though.
