Where it all began. Don't think Sylvia was even credited at this stage. My first tv memory after Watch With Mother. Hard to believe but to us then 5 - 6yr olds, this was considered quite exciting.
Bloody 'ell Stan, you're not thinking of doing an Oscar Wilde on us are you ? " This wallpaper will be the death of me...one of us must go !" All the best for Monday.
Wow, somehow I thought he was much older than that - remember him in the late 50's/early 60's and he seemed ancient then as he was such a brilliant interviewer/presenter. The Tonight show was a trendsetter, and Two-Way Family favourites was a must-not-miss radio programmes when I was a kid. RIP
I first heard the programme as Forces Favourites when the London end was hosted by Jean Medcalfe( the first female BBC broadcaster) and Michelmore the Hamburg end. Remember this being on a Sunday starting at mid-day. The two of them subsequently married. Jean died in 2000.
Just heard a clip of Cliff Michelmore covering the Aberfan disaster, it was very moving, he was a very good presenter.
